To use quantity formats

LN registers and displays quantities with different degrees of exactness depending on how the quantity is used. Each type of usage is represented by a predefined format code. The Format code table lists the predefined quantity format codes.

You must use the Formats by Generic Unit (ttaad1107m000) session to link the generic units to the quantity format codes, and define a format for each generic unit. The format must be in accordance with the type of unit. For example, you must not use a format with many decimals for units that are only used with whole numbers.

Example

To register quantities of a specific unit:

  • If used in inventory, using four decimals
  • If used in sales or purchase orders, using two decimals

take the following steps:

  1. Start the Formats by Generic Unit (ttaad1107m000) session.
  2. Select the format code for inventory applications (Q20).
  3. Add the generic unit to the format code and define a format with four decimals for it.
  4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 for the format codes of ordered quantities in purchase (Q13) and in Sales (Q25). This time, define a format with two decimals.

As a result, LN displays units of quantities in inventory with four decimals. You can also enter the quantities with four decimals in inventory adjustment sessions.

LN displays ordered purchase or sales quantities expressed in this unit with two decimals. If you enter or adjust sales or purchase orders manually, you can enter up to two decimals.
