To use boosters

You can use boosters to increase the speed of sessions and processes that are slow because of the large amount of data to be handled. Two types of boosters are available:

  • Table boosters
Table boosters speed up access to specific database tables, by loading the table or a specified part of it into memory.
  • Performance boosters

Performance boosters reduce the time needed for long processes. For example:

    • Print Warehouse - Items Inventory (whwmd2410m000)
    • Print Received Purchase Invoices (tfacp1400m000)
Types of performance boosters

There are two types of performance boosters. LN indicates the type of booster applicable for each session.

  • Prevent Progress Indicator
LN does not give any visual feedback about how long the process will take and how much has been done at any given moment.
  • Number of Servers
More than one instance of the user interface program (the bshell) runs simultaneously for the user. This reserves more processing power for the session. A large number of bshells running at once can decrease the performance because starting and running a bshell also consumes system resources.
Sessions and tables

Performance boosters and table boosters are implemented for specific sessions and tables. By default these boosters are not active. When you use a session or access a table, LN builds a list of sessions or tables for which you can activate the boosters.

Use the Performance Boosters (tcmcs0597m000), Parallel Processing Configuration (ttaad7520m000), and Table Boosters (tcmcs0598m000) sessions to activate these boosters.

Note

You can only activate boosters for sessions or tables for which there is a performance or table booster and that have been run or accessed at least once.
