Approve-Reject changes & Update Physical Breakdown

Approve / Reject changes & Update Physical Breakdown
  • Approve / Reject changes

You can update/modify the PBC lines with the Status set to Free. The modified lines must be submitted. The Status of the physical breakdown lines changes to Pending Approval. The changes can be Approved or Rejected. You can set the Status of the individual lines to Pending Approval, Approved or Rejected or you can set the status at header level to implement the changes to all the lines, simultaneously.

At the time of approval, Infor LN checks that no other breakdown change is already in process for the same item serial combination to avoid multiple breakdown changes.

  • Update physical breakdown

You must process the approved breakdown change lines, to implement the changes to the actual PBS. You can update the physical breakdown at the line and header level.

If the origin of the changes are service order, maintenance sales order or work order, the changes are handled by the related order and are not approved to the PBS.

  • Contract coverage

If a contract is linked to the item, the physical breakdown changes can lead to change of the contract and can result in the PBS lines with Status set to To be Installed or To be Removed.

When activating the contract change, the PBS lines can be installed or removed. The user can decide if the contract and PBS must be updated, before continuing the process.

  • Serial number

For the serialized control items, the user must specify or generate a serial number before approving the lines, because the serial number is mandatory for the approved lines.

‘Before Order’ breakdown changes

The manual Before Order physical breakdown changes are executed/implemented in an order context. The Order Number field is specified and the Order Release only after Approval of Breakdown Changes check box must be selected in the Physical Breakdown - Changes (tscfg2640m000) session.

Infor LN does not allow you to Release the related order if breakdown changes are not approved. All the breakdown change lines must be approved and updated (if required) to the Physical Breakdowns (tscfg2110m000) session, before the order is processed.

Note
  • If the change is initiated from an order (SO, WO, MSO) for which the status is set to Free or planned, the change is 'Before Order’ breakdown change.
  • If the change is initiated from an order (SO, WO, MSO) for which status is set to completed, the change is 'After Order’ breakdown change.
Breakdown changes caused by an order

If the Automatically Update from Work Orders, Automatically Update from Service Orders or Automatically Update from Maintenance Sales check boxes in the Configuration Management Parameters (tscfg0100m000) session are selected, Infor LN updates the breakdown changes originated from the orders to the Physical Breakdown - Changes (tscfg2640m000) changes.

If an activity line, part line or material line is created or modified, Infor LN checks the availability of an ‘Open' Physical Breakdown Change for the order and parent item / serial number combination. If available, the changes are updated to the physical breakdown change lines.

If an Open’ Physical Breakdown Change is not available, a breakdown change must be created. If the Automatically Update from Work Orders, Automatically Update from Service Orders or Automatically Update from Maintenance Sales check boxes in the Configuration Management Parameters (tscfg0100m000) session are not selected, no breakdown change is present, hence, no action is required.

PB change lines are updated during the completion of the order/activity. Infor LN does not allow manual changes, if the breakdown change is performed in an order context and the order is released but not yet completed. Approval and the subsequent physical breakdown update is not applicable in an order context. The update of the PBS is performed during the completion of the related orders.

Manual breakdown changes 'After Order'

The related order is populated and must be completed, before the manual changes to the physical breakdown, are allowed.

If the status of the related order indicates an ‘After Order’ change, Infor LN sets the Source of Change field to Manual, when the change lines in the Physical Breakdown Change Lines (tscfg2141m000) session are modified.

Close breakdown changes

When you close the breakdown changes, Infor LN checks if all the changes are approved and updated to the PBS. If ‘open’ break down changes exist, you can not close the physical breakdown change.

The superseded items must be processed and the Item Superseded check box must be selected in the Physical Breakdown Changes (tscfg2140m000) session.
