To use a search path

Project uses specific search paths to find the values needed for a certain process.

Budget labor search path The budget-labor-rate search path determines what cost rates and sales rates are used in budget lines. The path is specified in the Projects (tppdm6100m000) session. LN uses several search options to find the labor rate: Project

  • The project labor rate is set in the Labor Rate Codes (tcppl0190m000) and Specific Labor Rates (tcppl0192m000) sessions. Labor
  • Labor cost and sales rates is set in the Standard Labor (tppdm0511m000) session or in the Project Labor (tppdm6111s000) session. Trade group
  • Trade group cost and sales rates: labor rates associated with trade groups as defined in the Trade Group (tppdm0130s000) session whereas the rate is derived from the Labor Rate Codes (tcppl0190m000) session.
  • Project-specific cost and sales rates: project-specific labor rates as defined in the Projects (tppdm6100m000) session.

The default labor rate is the labor rate that LN found by looking at the path displayed in the first Path Budget Lab. Rat. box. If this box is empty, LN looks at the display in the second box, and if this is not available or zero, the third box is used.

Cost registration search path The labor rate for the cost-registration search path determines which of the following cost and sales rates are used in hours registration:

  • Employee: employee-specific labor rates.
  • Labor: standard labor rates defined in the Standard Labor (tppdm0111s000) and Project Labor (tppdm6111s000) sessions.
  • Trade group: labor rates associated with trade groups as defined in the Trade Group (tppdm0130s000) session and derived from the Labor Rate Codes (tcppl0190m000) session.
  • Project: project-specific labor rates as defined in the Projects (tppdm6100m000) session.

The default labor rate is the labor rate identified by LN using the path displayed in the first labor rate box. If this box is empty, LN searches for the labor rate in the second box, and if this is not available or zero, the third box is used.

Note

If you define Labor in the first labor rate box, then the standard labor rates are used in the labor lines of the actual budget. If you have not defined standard labor rates, then the second labor rate box is used; this can either be Trade Group or Project.
