Release Production Orders (tisfc0204m000)

Use this session to release production orders to the shop floor. The production order status changes to Released.

A production order with the Released status indicates that production can start, for example, materials can be issued, and spent hours can be accounted.

LN performs the following actions when releasing a production order:

  • Warehousing orders are created in Warehousing. Through these warehousing orders, the issue of materials and receipt into inventory of end products are handled.
  • If the Use of Shop Floor Warehouses check box is selected and the Move Allocation to Shop Floor Warehouse in the Shop Floor Control Parameters (tisfc0100s000) session is At Release, allocations of materials are moved to the shop-floor warehouse.
  • If the Moment Freezing Estimates field in the Production Orders (tisfc0501m000) details session is During Releasing Order, the estimated order costs are frozen, and the estimated end-item unit costs are calculated.
  • If you use Quality, inspection orders are created.
Note

If the Printing Production Order Documents Mandatory check box in the Shop Floor Control Parameters (tisfc0100s000) session is selected, you can run the Release Production Orders (tisfc0204m000) session when the order status is Documents Printed. Repetitive items can be released regardless of this parameter.

To release only the production orders for which the required materials are available, select the Check Shortages check box. For more information, refer to Material shortage checking.

If the Check Material Shortages at Release check box in the Shop Floor Control Parameters (tisfc0100s000) session is selected, you can select the Check Shortages check box under Options to check the availability of the required materials. If that check box is selected, LN does not release the production orders for which the required materials are not available in time.

Selection Range
Production Order

An order to produce a specified quantity of an item on a specified delivery date.

Project (PCS)

A collection of manufacturing and purchasing actions that are performed especially for a particular customer order. A project is initiated by a customer order for items having a To Order order policy. The purpose of a project is to plan and coordinate the production of these items.

For a standard-to-order production, the project is only used to link the item with the customer order. Otherwise, a project can include:

  • Customized item data (BOMs and routings)
  • Project planning (activity planning)

A budget is a special type of project. A budget is used to plan and estimate, not to carry out production.

Production Start Date and Time

This field refers to the production start date and time field in the Production Orders (tisfc0501m000) session.

Planned Delivery Date

The date the finished items are finished according to the planning.

Item Group

Group of items with similar characteristics. Each item belongs to a particular item group. The item group is used in combination with the item type to set up item defaults.

Warehouse

A place for storing goods. For each warehouse, you can enter address data and data relating to its type.

Planner

The user name of the employee that is responsible for planning plan items.

Shop Floor Planner

The person responsible for printing, (re)scheduling and releasing production orders and managing workloads.

Routing Group

A group of items with similar routing attributes, for example, the same work center, routing operation, BOM, and so on. A routing group is defined by the user as a selection criterion for production orders.

Product Line

A group of products made by the same producer, that are similar but differ in details such as, size, shape, color, and so on. User-definable item grouping data, mainly used as an item selection criterion for reporting.

Product Class

User-definable item grouping data that is used to distinguish between different groups of items in a product line. The product class is mainly used as a selection criterion for reporting.

Selection Code

User-definable item grouping data. Use selection codes to select items by color, diameter, product expiry date, and so on.

Note

Selection codes are used for information purposes only.

Item Selection
Item From

In LN, the raw materials, subassemblies, finished products, and tools that can be purchased, stored, manufactured, sold, and so on.

An item can also represent a set of items handled as one kit, or exist in multiple product variants.

You can also define nonphysical items, which are not held in inventory but can be used to post costs or to invoice services to customers. The following are examples of nonphysical items:

  • Cost items (for example, electricity)
  • Service items
  • Subcontracting services
  • List items (menus/options)
Grouping Selection
SFC Order Group

If this check box is selected, all the production orders in the SFC order group that you select are released.

If any production orders cannot be released (for example, the order documents are not printed and you have specified that they must be, in the Shop Floor Control Parameters (tisfc0100s000) session), LN prints an error report.

Work Center Selection

If this check box is selected, only the production orders with their first operation in the range of work centers you enter will be released.

Note
  • The production orders must have operations defined.
  • You cannot use this selection for SFC order groups.
Work Center

Only the production orders with their first operation in the range of work centers you enter here will be released.

Allowed values

  • The production orders must have operations defined.
  • You cannot use this selection for SFC order groups.

You must first select the Work Center Selection check box.

Options
Check Shortages

If this check box is selected, the session checks for shortages of required materials before releasing the production orders.

This option is available only if the Check Material Shortages at Release check box in the Shop Floor Control Parameters (tisfc0100s000) session is selected.

Interactive

If this check box is selected, LN displays a list of production orders with an indicator that shows for which production orders a material shortage occurs. You can then select the production orders to release from this list.

Check

Determines what kind of check this session performs.

Allowed values

  • On Hand

LN checks the inventory on hand.

Scheduled receipts from purchase orders are ignored.

Scheduled receipts from production orders are taken into account only in the following cases:

    • The production order has already been released.
    • The production order is contained in the selection ranges you specified under Selection Range.
  • Planned Available

LN checks the projected available quantity, based on all planned inventory transactions, including scheduled receipts from all purchase orders and production orders. This check is not multilevel. That is, LN does not check whether materials supplied by other production orders are delayed because of material shortages for those production orders.

  • Multilevel
LN checks the projected available quantity. If a material must be supplied by a production order, LN also checks whether the materials for that production order will be available in time. LN recursively checks the availability of lower-level materials. For more information, refer to Multilevel material shortage check.
Scope

Determines from which warehouses LN takes the available inventory into account.

Allowed values

  • Current Warehouse Only
Take only the inventory in the warehouse of the material into account. The material's warehouse is displayed in the Warehouse field in the Bill of Material (tibom1110m000) session.
  • Planned Warehouses in Cluster
Take the inventory into account in all warehouses in the same cluster as the material's warehouse. In general, nearby warehouses belong to the same cluster. However, LN excludes the warehouses for which the Include in Enterprise Planning check box in the Warehouses (tcmcs0503m000) session is cleared.
  • All Warehouses in Cluster
Take the inventory into account in all warehouses in the same cluster as the material's warehouse, regardless of the setting of the Include in Enterprise Planning check box in the Warehouses (tcmcs0503m000) session.

If the Check field is Multilevel, this field is Planned Warehouses in Cluster and cannot be changed.

Skip Blocked Inventory

If this check box is selected, LN does not take the inventory that is blocked into account for analyzing the production orders' material supply. Inventory can be blocked for inspection or for other reasons. Select this check box if you expect the material quality to be poor.

If the Check field is Multilevel, this check box is automatically set the same as the Inventory in Inspection Available for Planning check box in the Inventory Handling Parameters (whinh0100m000) session and cannot be changed.

Critical Items Only

If this check box is selected, LN checks only the materials for which the Critical for Inventory Check check box in the Items - Production (tiipd0101m000) session is selected.

Note

If you check multilevel, and a material that is not critical has lower-level materials that are critical, LN will check these lower-level materials.

Shortage Report

If this check box is selected, this session prints a shortage report identical to the one printed by the Print Material Shortages by Production Order (tisfc0419m000) session.

Print

Select the type of orders to be printed:

Allowed values

  • All Orders
  • Orders with Shortage
  • Orders without Shortage
Process Report

If this check box is selected, LN prints the process report.

Error Report

If this check box is selected, LN prints the error report.

Release

Releases the production order.
