| Rework order procedure for serialized itemsA rework order is a production
order to fix or upgrade a manufactured or purchased item. If you create a rework order for an item, no operations are
linked to the order, because you do not know in advance which operations are
required to fix the item. Regarding material, only one item is inserted as
estimated material for the rework order: the end item itself. Operations and
material to repair or upgrade the end item must be manually
inserted. To rework an item with a specific serial number, complete the
following steps: - To create a rework order, define a production order in the Production Orders (tisfc0101s000) session. Select the Rework Order check
box. In the Item field, enter the serialized item, and save the
order.
You can register the serial numbers of the rework items in
two ways: - In the Production Orders (tisfc0501m000) session, select the newly created rework order, open
the appropriate menu, click End Item, and click Serial Numbers. The Serial End Item - As-Built Headers (timfc0110m000) session is started. In the Serial End Item - As-Built Headers (timfc0110m000) session, enter the serial numbers of
items you want to rework.
- When you issue the rework items in the Material to Issue for Production Orders (ticst0101m100) session, move the quantity from
the Subsequent Delivery field to the To Issue field. The rework items are now issued
anonymously from the warehouse, which means that in Warehousing the
rework items' serial numbers are determined and registered, such as by scanning
the bar code.
If serial numbers are registered in the Serial End Item - As-Built Headers (timfc0110m000) session, LN automatically
completes the following steps: - The number of the rework order is displayed on the as-built
header of the original production order in the Serial End Item - As-Built Headers (timfc0110m000) session.
- LN automatically copies the as-built components of the original serial number to
the rework order's as-built header. To view and maintain the rework order's
as-built components in the Serial End Item - As-Built Components (timfc0111m000) session, on the appropriate menu, click As-Built Components.
You can check the estimated material lines of the rework
order in the Production Order (tisfc0101m100) session on the Estimated Materials Lines tab, or
in the Estimated Materials (ticst0101m000) session. The serialized item that must be
reworked is on an estimated material line. Note that the value in the Net Quantity field can be less than you expected; for example, if you are
reworking four serial numbers, the value of the Net Quantity field can be two instead of four. The reason is that some of
the items with serial status Rejected in the Serial End Item - As-Built Headers (timfc0110m000) session were not sent back to the
warehouse and are still on the shop floor. These items are not included in the
value of the Net Quantity field. - Process the rework order the same way as a production order.
