Bill of Material Parameters (tibom0100m000)

Use this session to:

  • View historical parameter settings.
  • Modify current parameter settings.

The parameters in this session are used in Bill of Material (BOM) module. However, the parameters also affect sessions in other modules. For example, the BOM Unit of Measure field is also used in the Engineering Data Management (EDM) module to calculate net quantities in an engineering bill of material.

The Bill of Material Parameters (tibom0100m000) overview session contains:

  • A history list of parameter sets and their effective dates.
  • The current parameter set, at the top of the list (without an effective date).

To view historical settings, double-click one of the historical parameter sets.

To view or change the current parameter settings, double-click the set without an effective date that appears at the top of the list. The Bill of Material Parameters (tibom0100m000) details session starts.

If you make the required changes and save the new parameter set, LN performs the following actions:

  • Adds the new set to the history list.
  • Updates the current set (at the top of the list).

Effective Date

The date and time that the parameters were changed. The parameters are valid up to the effective date of a more recent parameter setting. The current set has no effective date.

Description

The description of the parameter set. The default is the description of the previous parameter set, so to avoid confusion you must always delete this and add a new text. For example, you can indicate why you changed the parameters.

BOM Unit of Measure

The unit in which the length and width are specified on bills of materials, for example, meters, or inches.

BOM Unit of Measure

The physical quantity in which an item or good is managed. For example, a quantity of wood can be expressed as a length by using the unit of one meter, or as a volume by using the unit of one cubic meter.

View BOM By

The value of this field determines how you maintain or view sessions that concern BOM lines and materials, for example, the Bill of Material (tibom1110m000) session, and the Material to Issue for Production Orders (ticst0101m100) details session. You can view those sessions by Item or by Operation.

In practice, you can define a bill of material by Operation for items with a longer lead time. Thus, you prevent components from being stocked too early, either in the warehouse or on the shop floor.

Update Warehouse in BOM

The method to update warehouse quantity in the BOM.

This field can have the following values:

  • Automatically: When the material is issued or received in a warehouse for a production order, the quantity is updated automatically in the BOM.
  • Interactive: When the material is issued or received in a warehouse for a production order, you are asked whether the quantity must be updated in the BOM.
  • Never: When the material is issued or received in a warehouse for a production order, the quantity is not updated in the BOM.
