| Carriers/LSP by Shipping Office and Planning Group (fmfrc0160m000)Carriers are linked to combinations of shipping offices and
planning groups for the following reasons: - To select carriers for
load plans
- To select carriers for freight order clusters
- To select carriers and
rates for preliminary freight cost calculations for order lines
To select carriers for load plans To carry out load building, users select the freight orders
and freight order lines for which they want to create a load plan and then
start up the load building engine. The freight orders and freight order lines
belong to a given combination of shipping office and planning
group. During load building, the load building engine creates loads
and shipments from the freight orders and freight order lines and selects the
carrier that is to transport the loads and shipments. The load building engine selects the carrier from the carriers
attached to the shipping office and the planning group of the freight orders
and freight order lines for which the load plan is created. In this session,
you can attach carriers to combinations of shipping offices and planning
groups. Example Carriers A, B, and C are attached to shipping office X and
planning group X1. If you create a load plan for a number of freight orders and
freight order lines that belong to shipping office X and planning group X1, the
load building engine selects carrier A, B, or C to transport the loads and
shipments of the load plan. The way the load building engine selects the carrier from the
carriers attached to a particular combination of shipping office and planning
group, depends on various factors. To select carriers for freight order
clusters To carry out freight order clustering, users select the
freight orders and freight order lines for which they want to create clusters
and then start up the clustering process. The freight orders and freight order
lines for which the users create the clusters belong to a given combination of
shipping office and planning group. During the clustering process, the clustering engine selects
the carrier to whom the cluster is to be subcontracted from the carriers
attached to the shipping office and the planning group of the freight orders
and freight order lines for which the clusters are created. In this session,
you can attach carriers to combinations of shipping offices and planning
groups. To select carriers and rates for preliminary freight cost
calculations for order lines The carriers that you
link to a particular combination of shipping office and planning group are also
used to calculate preliminary freight costs for the following types of order
lines: - Freight order lines
- Sales order lines
- Sales quotation lines
For freight order
lines whose invoicing method is set to client rates, freight cost
calculation can be carried out in the Freight Invoicing Information (fmfri0110m000) session before loads and shipments are
created. Freight cost calculation for freight order lines with the freight costs and freight costs (update allowed) settings is carried out automatically during load building.
This is the only way to calculate freight costs for such freight order lines.
For sales order lines and quotation lines, freight cost calculation can be
carried out before the corresponding freight order lines are created. Freight selects
the carrier from the shipping office and planning group combination according
to the setting of the Rate and Carrier/LSP Selection at Order Line parameter in the Freight Rates and Costs Parameters (fmfrc0100m000) session. Shipping Office A department that is responsible for the organization of
transportation for one or more warehouses. When goods are moved from or to a
warehouse, the responsible shipping office plans the transportation of these
goods or subcontracts the transportation of the goods. In direct delivery
scenarios, the shipping office provides planning or transport subcontracting
services for external suppliers or customers. In Freight, a shipping office plays a key role in load building and
freight order clustering. Freight orders are grouped by shipping office. The
groups of freight orders by shipping office are used by the load building
engine to build shipments and loads, or by the freight order clustering engine
to build freight order clusters. Planning Group An entity that is used to group freight order lines into
shipments and loads or freight order clusters. Each freight order line is allocated to a planning group.
Freight order lines with different planning groups cannot be in the same
shipment, load, or freight order cluster. For example, all goods destined for
Belgium are subdivided into planning group Belgium. From a hierarchical perspective, the planning group is one
level below the shipping office. A shipping office has one or more planning
groups. Freight orders are grouped into shipping offices, the underlying
freight order lines are grouped into the planning groups of the shipping
office. Carrier/LSP The carrier that is to carry out
the transportation of the goods. Priority The carrier selection priority. 1 for the first priority, 2 for
the second priority, and so on. The carrier selection priority is the priority
according to which carriers are selected to determine the carrier rate when
preliminary freight costs are calculated before load building is carried out,
for the following types of order lines: - Freight order lines.
- Sales order lines.
- Sales quotation
lines.
For freight order
lines whose invoicing method is set to client rates, freight cost
calculation can be carried out at order line entry, before load building is
carried out. For sales order lines and quotation lines, freight cost
calculation can be carried out at order line entry, before the corresponding
freight order lines are created. You can give the same priority to more than
one carrier. During carrier selection, carriers with the same priority are
compared, and the one with the lowest rates, fastest transport, or shortest
route is selected. This depends on the Carrier/LSP Selection Criterion selected in the Freight Planning Parameters (fmlbd0100m000) session or the Generate Plan (fmlbd0280m000) session. Prioritized carrier selection takes place if
the Rate and Carrier/LSP Selection at Order Line parameter in the Freight Rates and Costs Parameters (fmfrc0100m000) session is set to Prioritized. Rating Level for Planning The level for which freight rates are used to calculate freight
costs. Rating is done by shipment or by load. If rating is done by load, the
costs are proportionately allocated to shipments. If rating is done by
shipment, the costs are aggregated to the load. In this field, you can set the
rating level for a carrier that is associated to a particular shipping office
and planning group. Loads and shipments that are related to this shipping
office/planning group and carrier combination, receive the rating level defined
for the carrier. The rating levels set in this field do not apply to freight
order clusters. When calculating freight costs for a freight order cluster, LN notices that load
building has not been carried out, so no loads or shipments are created and
therefore LN sets the
rating level to Freight Order Cluster. Freight All Kinds Freight all kinds is a special freight cost rating agreement
with the carrier. If the carrier and the transport requestor agree on rating
according to Freight all kinds, the official freight classes of the items will
be substituted by the Freight all kinds agreement. In LN, Freight All Kinds is defined as special freight class. Default Carrier/LSP If this check box is selected, the carrier is the
default carrier for the current combination of shipping office and planning
group. When you manually create a load, the carrier that you enter in this
field is taken as the default carrier for the load after you enter the shipping
office and the planning group. Loads are created in the Loads (fmlbd4100m000) session. Carrier/LSP Invoice If this check box is selected, the carrier invoices
your organization for transportation costs, and invoice matching and approval
in Financials is enabled for
this carrier. This applies to both load planning and freight order
clustering. | |
