Import Files to ODM (dmdoc7100m000)

Use this session to import the legacy files to LN ODM package. Use the session to do the following:

  • Link the imported files to a single document
  • Link each imported file to a different document
  • Link the imported files to an existing document
  • Link the created documents to ERP objects like service order, purchase order and so on
  • Copy the imported files directly to the vault or work area

Linked Object Instance Details tab

The Linked Object Instance Details tab displays the fields on the basis of the object you select in the Object field in the Import Files tab. You can select the object instance to link the document. Example If you select the object EITEM_REV (E-Item Revision), the fields displayed in the Linked Object Instance Details tab are Engineering Item and Engineering Item Revision.

You can enter a value in the first field. Use the browse arrow to select the value. The subsequent disabled fields are populated on the basis of the value you select in the first field.

Effective Date

The date and time when you save the record. This is a display field.

Note

You can run the import session only when the effective date field is empty.

Description

The description or name of the code.

Local Host

Select the checkbox when the files to be imported exist on the same computer on which the import session is run. If this check box is selected, the Host Name field is disabled. If this check box is cleared, the Browse buttons for the File Path and File Names field is disabled.

Host Name

The name of the computer defined as host. The files to be imported are present on this source computer. Click the browse arrow to select the host from the Hosts (dmdoc5500m000) session.

Host Name

The name assigned to the computer by the network administrator. This is a display field.

File Path

The path to the directory which contains the files you want to import.

Note

When the Local Host check box is cleared, you must manually enter the path to the directory.

Note

In case the file path and path of the work area are identical (the source directory and target directory are the same), files are only linked to the ODM entities and remain in their original directory.

All Files

If this check box is selected, all the files available in the directory are imported.

File Names

The name of the files which you want to import.

Note

If the Local Host check box is not selected the Browse button is disabled.

Note

In case you enter the name of the files manually, you must use / as a delimiter to separate the file names.

File-Document Linkage Type

The type of link between an imported file and the document. Following are the possible values:

  • Many-to-One: All the imported files are linked to a single document. To link files to an existing document, use the Documents (dmdoc1510m000) session
  • One-to-One: Each file selected for import is linked to a unique document. The user cannot specify a Document when the linkage type is one-to-one. The system automatically generates the name of the documents ID’s to which the imported files are linked.
Library

The library to which the created documents are linked. Click the browse arrow to select a library from the Libraries (dmsys0540m000) session. You can use the selected library to specify the Vault Area in case the Files are to be copied to the Vault Area. You can select the Vault Area from the Families Members with Count (dmsys9113m000) session.

Note

In case an existing document with library which is different from the library specified in the Library field is selected to link the imported file, the library of the selected document takes priority and LN prompts a confirmation before the value is changed in the Library field.

Description

The description or name of the code.

Area Type

Select the type of area. The files are imported to the type of area selected by the user.

You have the following two options:

  • Work Area: You must import the files into the Work Area when the files have to be modified.
  • Vault Area: The access to the files imported into the Vault Area is restricted. You cannot modify the files imported into a Vault Area. In case no secondary Vault Area is specified, the files are imported to the default Vault Area which is linked to the library.
Work Area

The name of the work area into which the imported files are copied. The files saved in a work area can be modified. Click the browse arrow to select the work area from Areas (dmdoc5120m000) session.

Work Area

The path to the work area. This is a display field.

Document Type

The type of Document to which the imported Files are linked. Click the browse arrow to select the document type from Document Types (dmdoc2510m000) session.

Note

When the document type of the document selected in the Document field and the value selected in the Document Type field are similar, the Document Type field is disabled.

Description

The description or name of the code.

Document

The name of the document. Click the browse arrow to select a document from the Documents (dmdoc1510m000) session.

Note

In case the document type of the Document selected to link the imported files is different from the value specified in the Document Type field, the Document Type of the selected document takes priority and LN prompts a confirmation before the value is changed in the Document Type field.

Note

The documents to which the imported files are linked must be of the type Light. You must select the Quick Approval Process check box in the Documents (dmdoc1510m000) session. As part of the Quick Approval process, the Document is Released directly.

Document Revision

The revision of the selected document to which the imported files are linked. In case the selected document has only one Indesign revision, the revision ID is displayed in the Document Revision field. In case the user enters a revision manually and multiple Indesign revisions exist for the document, LN displays an alert message, allowing the user to select the specific revision. Click the browse arrow to select the document revision from the Document Revisions (dmdoc1520m000) session.

Note

Only the document revision with status set to In Design can be selected.

Object

All selected or created documents are linked to the object. Click the browse arrow to select the object from the Objects (dmsys1511m000) session.

Note

The fields related to the object selected from the Objects (dmsys1511m000) session are displayed in the Linked object Instance Details tab.

Description

The description or name of the code.

Print Error Report

If this check box is selected, an error report is printed.

Object Instance

The Object Instance linked to the object in the Object field in the Import Files tab.

Source Object ID

The code of the entities linked to the object instance.

 

Browse

Allows you to select the path to the directory which contains the files you want to import

Browse

Allows you to select the files you want to import.

Import Files

Starts the import of legacy files to the LN ODM package.

Apply to List

Re-arranges the display of the selected files.
