Change addresses for BOD integration

Infor LN FP6

After receiving a Contact BOD or Business Partner BOD that must be stored in Infor LN FP6, integration problems are applicable regarding the address data.

The cause of the problem is that in LN, an address can be linked to (multiple) objects such as contacts, business partners, sales orders and so on. In Business Object Documents (BODs), however, an address is linked to only one object and cannot be shared.

New in Infor LN 10

To enable the BOD integration of addresses, the following are new or have changed in Infor LN 10:

  • Based on external address information, an address is searched for. If no matching address is found, it can be generated.
  • New fields are introduced in addresses and address formats.
  • Addresses can be simulated based on address formats.
  • Unused cities can be deleted.
  • Address formats can be updated for addresses and address lines. The address line (1-6) fields, which are used to exchange address data between LN and an external package, can also be updated.

To create a contact or business partner in LN from a BOD

A contact or business partner that does not exist yet in LN, is created in LN from the BOD.

The following steps are carried out regarding the address data:

  1. Several address fields from the Contact or Business Partner BOD are passed to LN.
  2. In the Addresses (tccom4130s000) session, an existing address (code) is searched for that matches all of these fields.
  3. If there is a match, this address code is used for the contact or business partner and returned to the BOD. If there is no match, if the Add Address field is set to Yes or Master Data Only in the BOD Parameters (tcbod0100m000) session, a new address code is created and returned to the BOD. The Add State/Province, Add ZIP Code, and Add City parameters determine the handling of missing states/provinces, ZIP codes, or cities for the address.

If an existing address is found, but the address has empty fields in LN and filled BOD address fields, the address in LN is updated with the BOD address fields. In this case, the same address code is returned to the BOD. In all other cases, a new address is created or an error is returned to the BOD.

Note

In the Addresses (tccom4130s000) session, the address line (1-6) fields are used to exchange address data between LN and an external package. If you do not want these address line (1-6) fields to be updated each time an update is made to a field that is specified in the address format, you must leave the Address Format for Address Lines field empty. If required, you can upload address lines in LN from the Update Address Formats (tccom4235m000) session. For more information, refer to Using address formats.
