Resources in Enterprise Planning

In Enterprise Planning, production facilities are referred to as resources. A resource in Enterprise Planning corresponds to a work center in Manufacturing.

Every work center in Manufacturing is automatically defined as Resource in Enterprise Planning.

Resources are used to provide information about available capacity, capacity utilization, the resulting free capacity and capacity capable to promise.

Calendars

If you link a calendar to a resource, Enterprise Planning uses this calendar for capacity planning. If no calendar is linked to the resource, LN uses a more general calendar.

Calendars are defined in Common, and consist of combinations of time-interval types and availability types. In the Scenario - Availabilities (cprpd4160m000) session, you can specify per scenario which availability type is used for a specific calendar.

This means that you can change the availability type of a calendar in a certain scenario, and let Enterprise Planning calculate the consequences of a changed availability type of the calendar linked to the resource. If you did not specify an availability type for the calendar linked to the resource in the Scenario - Availabilities (cprpd4160m000) session, Enterprise Planning uses the availability type of the Routing Parameters (tirou0100m000) session in Manufacturing to plan routing operations.
