Plan items in Enterprise PlanningIn Enterprise Planning, items are known as plan items. Each item that is planned using Enterprise Planning must not only be defined as an item in Common, but also as a plan item in Enterprise Planning. How to define plan items When you define an item in Common, in the Items - General (tcibd0501m000) session, you can specify its order system in the Items - Ordering (tcibd2500m000) session. If the order system is Planned, LN automatically starts the Items - Planning (cprpd1100m000) session, where you can define the corresponding plan item. Note You can define default data for plan items in the Items - Planning Defaults (cprpd1110m000) session. Cluster segment Depending on how Enterprise Planning has been configured, a plan item can have an additional item-code segment known as the cluster segment. This segment represents the geographical location of a plan item, and is used for distribution planning. If the cluster segment is filled, the plan item is a clustered item; if it is empty, the plan item is a nonclustered item. The use of cluster segments implies that an item can be represented by more than one plan item (with different cluster segments, and possibly a nonclustered counterpart). Note Through the appropriate menu in the Items - Planning (cprpd1100m000) session, you can generate a range of clustered items based on a particular plan item (for a range of clusters), or based on a particular cluster (for a range of plan items). If you do this, Enterprise Planning also copies the relevant plan item data. Plan-item settings The plan item's settings in the Items - Planning (cprpd1100m000) session determine, among other things:
Enterprise Planning also uses the following data, some of which is stored in Manufacturing, and some of which in Enterprise Planning: You can maintain the data related to the BOM and the routings in the Bill of Material and the Routing module of Manufacturing. The bill of critical materials, the bill of critical capacities, and aggregation relationships are maintained in Enterprise Planning.
