Exchange Scheme Delivery for LN

This document describes how exchange schemes can be imported in LN using the additional files functionality.

Introduction

Exchange schemes contain configurations for export or import of data from LN. In many cases, exchange schemes are created by customers to implement integrations or for other purposes. In some cases, exchange schemes for specific integrations are created by Infor Development. Such schemes are delivered by exporting the exchange schemes to XML and deliver them as additional files. The advantage of this procedure is that additional files have version control and are automatically included when a package is delivered. The XML files include the condition scripts and other texts linked to the exchange schemes.

This document describes the procedure to install delivered exchange schemes at a customer's site.

Installation

When you install the delivered exchange schemes, they are imported into the base data company (050). The data in the base data company must not be changed/customized, because customizations are lost when the exchange scheme is installed again, for example, when you install a feature pack. Instead, if you want to change/customize the schemes, you must copy the required schemes to another company.

The exchange schemes can only be installed after the Data Director (DA) package is installed. This is guaranteed by installing the da package after the tt package, but before the application packages. The installation procedure takes care of the proper installation order.

When you install a package, all delivered exchange schemes for that package are installed as well. It is not possible to install only some of the schemes. The current installer version does not allow you to import the exchange schemes into another company than the base data company. However, is it possible to install exchange schemes manually using the Import Delivered Exchange Schemes (daxch5204m000) session, which enables you to select a specific additional file and import it into your current company.

Modifying and Copying Exchange Schemes

If you customize a delivered exchange scheme, you must take one of the following actions to prevent that the customizations are overwritten when a new version of the standard exchange scheme is installed:

  • Do not customize the exchange scheme in the base data company (050).
  • Rename the exchange scheme before you customizate it.

Use the following sessions to copy exchange schemes:

  • Copy Exchange Scheme (daxch0201m000) Use this session if the package combinations of the base data company and the target company match.
  • Export Exchange Schemes (daxch5201m000) and Import Exchange Schemes (daxch5202m000). Use these sessions if the package combinations of the companies do not match.
Create Export/Import Programs

After the installation, the imported schemes are available, but the programs are not yet generated because the base data company is not used at run time. So, after you copied the exchange schemes to the company from which you want to use them, the Create Import Programs (daxch0227m000) session and/or the Create Export Programs (daxch0228m000) session must be run. Before you run these sessions, you can check whether the correct directories are specified using the Exchange Schemes (daxch0501m000) session.
