Input / output control

You can use input/output control to judge how efficiently your machines or work centers are operating. You can compare actual input with planned input to find out when there is not enough work at a work center or machine, which leads to poor productivity. You can compare actual output with planned output to discover problems at a work center or machine.

Input/output control data

The difference between input and output is called the queue, and you can use input/output control to compare the actual queue with the planned queue. The difference between these is the queue deviation. You can also define a desired queue (in the Desired Queue field of the Work Centers (tirou0101m000) session), and compare that with your actual queue. The desired queue deviation is the actual queue minus the desired queue.

An additional performance measure provided by input/output control is the demonstrated load factor.

How to use input/output control

Set the appropriate parameters in the Shop Floor Control Parameters (tisfc0100s000) session:

  • The Update Method I/O Control defines whether the target period is a number of weeks or a number of days
  • The No. of Periods to Generate I/O Data defines how many days or weeks are in the target period.
  • The Include Partial Completions (Default) check box determines whether or not LN takes into account routing operations that are only partially completed to calculate input / output values. This check box is the default setting for the check box in the Generate Work Center Input/Output Control (tisfc3210m000) session and the Generate Machine Input/Output Control Data (tisfc3220m000) session, in which you can overrule it.

Define the work centers, whose input/output data you want to see, as critical. Select the work center's Critical in Master Planning check box in the Work Centers (tirou0101m000) session.

Use the Generate Work Center Input/Output Control (tisfc3210m000) and Generate Machine Input/Output Control Data (tisfc3220m000) sessions to generate the data. You can view the work center data in the Work Center Input/Output Control (tisfc3510m000) session, and the machine data in the Machine Input/Output Control (tisfc3520m000) session. You can display the data graphically with the Chart Work Center Input/Output Control (tisfc3710m000) session and the Chart Machine Input/Output Control (tisfc3720m000) session.

When you no longer require the input/output data, you can delete it with the Delete Work Center Input/Output Control (tisfc3212m000) and Delete Machine Input/Output Control (tisfc3222m000) sessions

Shared work centers

In the print and chart sessions, you can choose to report the data for shared work centers:

  • For each primary work center, the data of all its secondary work centers are added together on the report.
  • For each secondary work center, the data of that specific work center, in its own company, are printed.
Note

You cannot see shared work center data in the Work Center Input/Output Control (tisfc3510m000) and Machine Input/Output Control (tisfc3520m000) sessions.
