Matrix Definitions (tdpcg0110m000)

Use this session to view, enter, and maintain matrix definitions.

Note
  • If you enter a matrix definition with the Matrix Priority field specified, LN automatically inserts a record in the Matrix Priorities (tdpcg0120m000) session. For this inserted record, the effective date is empty.
  • You can update the Matrix Priority in the current session and in the Matrix Priorities (tdpcg0120m000) session. If a matrix definition has only one linked priority record, changes are synchronized between both sessions. If a matrix definition has several linked priority records, the Matrix Level and Matrix Priority fields are empty and unavailable in the current session.
  • If you change the value of the Matrix Priority field to zero, the linked priority record is removed from the Matrix Priorities (tdpcg0120m000) session. If you remove the priority record from the Matrix Priorities (tdpcg0120m000) session, the Matrix Priority field becomes zero in the current session.

Matrix Type

Defines the type of a matrix definition and is linked to a set of matrix attributes.

The following matrix types are available in Pricing:

  • Sales Price
  • Sales Line Discount
  • Sales Total Discount
  • Purchase Price
  • Purchase Line Discount
  • Purchase Total Discount
  • Transfer Price
  • Line Promotions
  • Order Promotions
  • Client Freight Rate
  • Carrier Freight Rate

Each type has its own a selection of attributes. For a matrix type, the combination of a maximum of six attributes identifies the matrix definition.

Matrix Definition

Defines the group of elements (matrix attributes) that a Pricing matrix uses to determine a price, discount, promotion, or freight rate.

Imagine you are a furniture vendor and you decide to maintain your sales prices based on two elements:

  • The specific item you sell.
  • The way to handle payments.

In this case, the matrix type is Sales Price, the matrix definition is Furni (this name is user-definable), and the matrix attributes are Item and Payment Method.

Combine by Price Group

If this check box is selected, the Apply Cumulative Discounts option is available in the Recalculate Price and Discount (tdpcg0240s000) session. This option enables you to apply cumulative discounts to calculate discounts based on all items that belong to the same price group.

Note

This field is only applicable if the matrix type is Sales Line Discount or Purchase Line Discount.

The Recalculate Price and Discount (tdpcg0240s000) session can be accessed using the Recalculate Price and Discounts from the Actions menu in the Sales Price Calculations (tdpcg2100m000) session.

Performance aspects

The setting of this field could affect system performance and database growth. For more information, refer to Combine items for Pricing.

Matrix Level

The discount level for the matrix definition, as set in the Pricing Parameters (tdpcg0100m000) session.

Note
  • This field is only visible if the Multiple Discount Levels Implemented check box is selected in the Pricing Parameters (tdpcg0100m000) session.
  • This field is only applicable for discount matrices.
Matrix Priority

For a matrix type, the order in which matrix definitions are searched for.

Matrix Attributes

A list of elements used to define a price, discount, promotion, or freight rate. The group of matrix attributes is identified by a matrix definition and type.

Imagine you are a furniture vendor and you decide to maintain your sales prices based on two elements:

  • The specific item you sell.
  • The way to handle payments.

In this case, the matrix type is Sales Price, the matrix definition is Furni (this name is user-definable), and the matrix attributes are Item and Payment Method.

In the Pricing matrix, you specify the values for the matrix attributes.
