Defining units

To define base units, alternative units, and general conversion factors:
  1. Define the base units and other units you need in the Units (tcmcs0101m000) session.
  2. Define the base units of the company in the MCS Parameters (tcmcs0500m000) session.
  3. Define conversion factors to convert units to the base unit in the Conversion Factors (tcibd0103m000) session.
  4. Optionally, enter a description in different languages for each unit in the Unit Description by Language (tcmcs0107m000) session. These descriptions are used when external documents are printed in different languages.
To define item-dependent units and conversion factors:
  1. Define the required units in the Units (tcmcs0101m000) session.
  2. Define a unit set in the Unit Sets (tcmcs0106m000) session.
  3. Add the units to the unit set in the Units by Unit Set (tcmcs0112m000) session.
  4. Define the item or item group and select for each item or item group:
    • A unit set
    • The item's inventory unit
    • The item's base unit of weight
  5. For each item or item group, define the conversion factors of the alternative units of the item's unit set to the item's base/inventory unit by using the Conversion Factors (tcibd0103m000) session.

You define items and item groups and assign their units and unit sets by using the Items - General Defaults (tcibd0502m000) session or the Items - General (tcibd0501m000) session.

Note

The inventory unit and base unit of weight must be included in the unit set that you assign to the item(group). The base unit of weight of an item(group) is not necessarily the base unit of weight for the company.
