Defining departments

You must specify departments to issue orders and other document types.

For example, a service department issues service contracts, service orders, and calls.

Department types

You can define more than one department of each type for a company. For example, you can have separate sales offices that deal with sales of different products or sales to different market segments.

The department's financial company

A department is an entity of an enterprise unit. After defining the department in the Tables module, you must define the department's enterprise modeling data in the Enterprise Modeling Management module. Each enterprise unit is linked to one financial company. The financial data related to a department is registered in the financial company to which the department is linked.

You can define relationships between the departments for transactions between the departments and between departments and warehouses, for example, sales/purchase transactions. For details, refer to Entity-entity relationships.

The business partner's department

If you link a business partner with a specific role to a department, the business partner's financial data is registered in the financial company to which the department is linked. For details, see Financial business-partner data.
