Serialized Items (tcibd4501m000)

This session lists the serialized items:

  • For which LN has generated a serial number.
  • For which you have entered a serial number manually in the Serial Numbers (tcibd4101s000) details session.
  • For which you have entered a serial number manually in the Serialized Items (tscfg2100m000) session in Service.

To define a serial number manually, complete the following steps:

  1. On the File menu, click New.

The Serial Numbers (tcibd4101s000) session starts.

  2. Enter the item in the Item Code field.
  3. Specify the serial number in the Serial Number field. After you save the record, you can no longer change the serial number.
Note

You can manually enter serial codes for items even if the Serialized check box in the Items - General (tcibd0501m000) details session is cleared. However, you cannot select an item by zooming if that item is not a serialized item.

Effectivity Unit

The effectivity unit to which the serialized item belongs.

Item

item

Segmented item codes consist of a project-code segment and an item-base segment (the item code). You can define the item code segmentation in the Item Code Segmentation (tcibd0500m000) session.

Serial Number

The item's serial number.

The item's serial number can be:

  • Generated by LN by using a mask.
  • Entered manually.
Status

The status of the serialized item. The status indicates whether the item is in use in Service, in Manufacturing, or is still free to be used.

The statuses Initial, Used in As-Built, and Used in As-Maintained indicate the phases in the product life cycle of the serialized item.

Allowed values

Serial item status

Lot

A number of items produced and stored together that are identified by a (lot) code. Lots identify goods.

If in the Items - Warehousing (whwmd4500m000) details session the Serials in Inventory check box is selected for the serialized item, the lot code can be entered or modified as long as the serialized item is not yet present in the Item - Serials and Warehouses (whltc5100m000) session, or in the as-built structure defined in the Serial End Item - As-Built Headers (timfc0110m000) and the Serial End Item - As-Built Components (timfc0111m000) session.

If the Serials in Inventory check box is cleared for the serialized item, the lot code can always be modified. However, the lot should be preferably updated by rework orders. Those rework orders can cause changes in the as-built structures, which leads also to updates in the serial tracking sessions in Warehousing.

Note

If in the Items - Warehousing (whwmd4500m000) details session the Serials in Inventory check box is selected for the serialized item, you can also view the lot code in the Item - Serials and Warehouses (whltc5100m000) session.
