PCM controlled items in Enterprise Planning

New functionality

If the end item is configured by PCM Configurator, the configuration models, generic bill of material (BOM) and routings are maintained within the PCM Configurator. No generic BOM and routing are present within LN.

For planning to be possible the customized item and its variant structure must be retrieved from PCM. To accommodate forecasting for PCM configured items, you must define a generic BOM and routing in LN for the item that are used only for planning purposes in Enterprise Planning.

If the item, BOM and routing configuration is performed within PCM Configurator, you can put an engineering hold on an item configuration. As long as the engineering hold is set to yes, the variant is considered invalid. Once the appropriate resource has completed the required activities or procedures leading to the lift of the engineering hold the product variant is updated to a valid status.

Possible availability checks for PCM configured items

Configured	Customized	Availability check
No	No	The check is performed based on a specific PCM configured item - generic BOM and generic routing.
Yes	No	If the product variant is valid, the retrieval of the variant structure from the PCM configurator that LN uses to identify the materials and capacity required. Once the variant structure is obtained, the check performed is equal to the checks performed for the PCF configured items.
Yes	Yes	No difference in the checking logic of ATP/CTP when compared to checks performed on PCF customized items.
