Resource Master Plan (cprmp3501m000)

Use this session to view and analyze cacpacity planning of a specific resource.

On the Capacity Overview tab, LN presents a summary of the resource's capacity use per plan period, inclusively information on the resource's capacity CTP.

The Origin of Capacity Use tab gives a more detailed overview of capacity use, in the sense that it tells you for what type of orders capacity of the specified resource is required.

On the appropriate menu, several options exist to:

  • Zoom to various sessions in which you can further analyze aspects that are closely related to the resource's planning.
  • Recompute (update) the resource master plan of the specified resource.
Note

If you have started this session by zooming, you can only find and select a record.

Scenario

The scenario for which LN displays the resource master plan of the specified resource.

If the scenario's plan status is Closed, you can no longer modify the data that is related to this scenario.

Scenario

The displayed scenario is the actual scenario.

Plan Level

The plan level of the plan items that use the specified resource.

Resource

The resource for which LN displays the resource master plan.

Minimum Utilization (%)

LN uses the minimum utilization percentage to determine which plan periods are displayed on this tab.

LN does not display the plan periods in which less capacity is used than the percentage that you specify in this field.

If you set the minimum utilization percentage to 100, LN ignores plan periods with free capacity.

Maximum Utilization (%)

LN uses the maximum utilization percentage to determine which plan periods are displayed on this tab.

LN does not display the plan periods in which more capacity is used than the percentage that you specify in this field.

If you set the maximum utilization percentage to 100, LN ignores plan periods with capacity overload.

Period

One of a series of time buckets into which all planning data in a master plan is accumulated.

Plan periods are defined in the context of a scenario.

Plan periods are identified by a period number, and are defined in days, weeks, or months.

Period

The plan period's start date.

Finish Date

The plan period's end date.

Available Capacity

The total capacity (in hours) available in a plan period.

The total capacity is read from the calendar that applies to the resource, and is multiplied by the value of the Basic Number of Machines field or the Basic Number of Operators field in the Resource (cprpd2100m000) session. Which of these two values LN takes into account, depends on whether or not you specified a number of machines in the Work Centers (tirou0101m000) session in the Manufacturing package. If the the number of machines is zero, LN takes into account the number of operators to calaculate the available capacity.

Free Capacity

The free capacity (in hours) of a resource, that is, capacity that is not used or reserved for a specific type of activity.

The free capacity is computed as follows:

total capacity - total required capacity

Note If the free capacity for a certain plan period is negative, this indicates that the resource is overloaded in that period.

Cumulative Free Capacity

LN calculates the cumulative free capacity according to the following formula:

Required Capacity

The total used resource capacity (in hours) in a plan period.

The total required capacity is the sum of the following fields on the Origin of Capacity Use tab:

  • Critical Capacity Requirements.
  • Planned Orders Capacity Use.
  • SFC Orders Capacity Use.
  • Service Orders Capacity Use.
  • PCS Activities Capacity Use.
  • CTP Reservations.
Capacity CTP

The capacity CTP of the specfied resource in this plan period. If the specified resource is a main work center, then the Capacity CTP from sub work centers are added to the main work center's Capacity CTP.

Cumulative Capacity CTP
CTP Reservations

The capacity CTP reservation that LN made for capacity of the specified resource in the plan period on this line. If the specified resource is a main work center, then the CTP Reservations from sub work centers are added to the main work center's CTP Reservations.

Critical Capacity Requirements

The capacity (in hours) reserved for the critical capacity requirements in master planning. If the specified resource is a main work center, then the Critical Capacity Requirements from sub work centers are added to the main work center's Critical Capacity Requirements.

For each item with a production plan greater than zero (in a certain plan period), LN determines the critical capacity requirements on the basis of the item's bill of critical capacities.

Planned Orders Capacity Use

The capacity (in hours) that is reserved for planned production orders. If the specified resource is a main work center, then the Planned Orders Capacity Use from sub work centers are added to the main work center's Planned Orders Capacity Use.

LN adds up the run times and the average setup time of operations that use capacity at the specified resource ( work center), and that fall within the plan period in question.

You can define the average setup time of a machine in the Average Setup Time [Min] field of the Routing Operations (tirou1102m000) session.

Note

If the start date of a planned order falls within the the item's fixed lead-time horizon, LN does not record any capacity use for this planned order.

SFC Orders Capacity Use

The capacity (in hours) that is used by actual production orders (SFC orders). If the specified resource is a main work center, then the SFC Orders Capacity Use from sub work centers are added to the main work center's SFC Orders Capacity Use.

When the resource planning is updated, the relevant capacity use is retrieved from the Shop Floor Control module in Manufacturing (see the Work Center Utilization by Day Overview (tisfc1506m000) session).

Note

Enterprise Planning only records the capacity use of SFC orders if the Update Method Day Utilization field in the Shop Floor Control Parameters (tisfc0100s000) session is set to Automatic or to Manual.

PCS Activities Capacity Use

The capacity (in hours) that is used in the network planning of projects in Manufacturing. If the specified resource is a main work center, then the PCS Activities Capacity Use from sub work centers are added to the main work center's PCS Activities Capacity Use.

When the resource planning is updated, the relevant capacity use is retrieved from the Project Control module in Manufacturing.

Service Orders Capacity Use

The capacity (in hours) that is used for service orders in Service. If the specified resource is a main work center, then the Service Orders Capacity Use from sub work centers are added to the main work center's Service Orders Capacity Use.

When the resource planning is updated, LN retrieves the relevant capacity from the Service Orders (tssoc2100m000) session in the Service Order Control module of Service.
