Component CTP and capacity CTP for clusters

For clustered items the application of CTP checks is somewhat restricted.

For clustered items, you can use these types of available-to-promise functionality:

The ATP check takes supplying relations in to account when exploding the bill of material (BOM) for the component check.

The ATP check find components through:

  • Exploded for a product variant or on a generic item level.

Supply relations are not taken in to account as Order Planning and Master Planning will perform the check.

  • Only used for items with an Item Master Plan.

Supply relations are not taken in to account as Order Planning and Master Planning will perform the check.

  • The most detailed level.

With this check the supply relations are taken in to account as shown by the examples.

Example
[...]

When a ATP check is done for Plan Item CPATP22, the result should be that 10 pieces can be delivered via the supplying relation CPATP22.1 <- ATP CPATP22.1. The item ATP CPATP22.1 has 10 pieces on hand.

The ATP calculation always takes the minimum component CTP in the case of one supplying relation.

Example
[...]

The use of two sites and two supplying relations is possible.

If there is an ATP request for ten pieces on ABE CPATP, the result of the ATP check should be that both five pieces on hand are found. Five pieces from ADL CPATP22.2.A and five from AFR CPATP22.2.A.

In case of several supplying relations component CTP should be added to the previously found component CTP.

Caution!

If you have a cluster set-up with several clustered items and/or non-clustered items with the same item segment, the CTP functionality works correctly as long as you make sure that only one of these clustered or non-clustered items has a source Production.

If multiple clusters have the source production, the capable-to-promise functionality produces erroneous results, because the system promises the same capacity and components to multiple orders: once for each cluster. This happens because a clustered item shares a bill of material, bill of critical material, routing operations, or bill of critical operations with clustered items that belong to the same item.

If a clustered item has a valid sourcing strategy, LN checks the component CTP and capacity CTP only if the sourcing strategy has a Production source (more than 0%).

If a clustered item has no valid sourcing strategy, LN checks the component CTP and capacity CTP only if the Default Supply Source is Production/Purchase and the Actual Source at the requested date is Production.

To define sourcing strategies, use the Sourcing Strategy (cprpd7110m000) session.

To define a plan item's Default Supply Source, use the Items - Planning (cprpd1100m000) sesion.
