Compose Handling Units (whwmd5130m100)Use this session to set up and maintain handling units and handling-unit structures. Various commands are available to create or modify handling units and handling unit structures. For example, you can add a child handling unit to a parent, or remove a child from a parent, or remove the parent handling unit from the handling unit structure. In addition, you can validate a handling unit against a handling unit template. This is useful, for example, if you want to check whether a handling unit structure that you composed matches the packing requirements for a particular customer. For example, if you have defined a handling unit of type Pallet A and 20 handling units of type Box B, you can create a handling unit structure in which the handling unit of type Pallet A is the parent of the handling units of type Box B. Items that you pack using this handling unit structure are put in boxes, and the boxes are put on the pallet. Frequently, changes to handling unit structures are required, for example, to make the load fit the truck, or to change the load if other items than those originally planned must be loaded. In such cases, fewer boxes are stacked on Pallet A, or Pallet A carries 10 boxes of type B and 12 boxes of type C for a particular transport. You can also use package definitions and link the package definition to an item. When you generate a handling unit for the item, the handling unit structure is composed according to the package definition. If required, you can change these package definitions in this session. How to operate the Compose Handling Units (whwmd5130m100) session If you selected a handling unit in the Handling Units (whwmd5130m000) session and started this session, this session displays the handling units whose warehouse, location, and status match the status, warehouse, and location of the selected handling unit. If you started this session from the Handling Units (whwmd5130m000) session without selecting a handling unit, this session displays the handling units whose status, warehouse, and location match those of the top handling unit from the list of handling units displayed in the Handling Units (whwmd5130m000) session. To change the selection of handling units displayed in this session, proceed as follows:
To use one of the commands to maintain a handling unit or handling unit structure, select the handling unit and click the relevant command on the toolbar or the References menu. To start the Handling Units (whwmd5130m000) session to view details of a handling unit, double-click the handling unit. Alternatively, you can use the Handling Unit Tree to maintain handling unit structures. To view the Handling Unit Tree for a handling unit, select the handling unit; on the References menu, select the Handling Unit Tree.
Handling Unit The handling unit number that is
used to uniquely identify the handling unit in LN. Status Warehouse A place for storing goods. For each warehouse, you can enter

package definition for an item can, for example, be the following: a pallet

within manufacturing, distribution processes, and, specifically, within the
warehouse. For example: boxes, pallets. Ship-from Code A code used, together with the ship-from type, to identify the
exact source of a warehousing order. Ship-to Code A code used, together with the ship-to type, to identify where
goods are shipped to. Text If this check box is selected, some text about the
handling unit is available in the Text field of the Handling Units (whwmd5130m000) session. Status Ship-from Code The ship-from type is used, together with the ship-from code,
to identify the exact source of a warehousing order. The ship-from type can have the following values:

defined for the handling unit, a label record is created. These labels can be
printed. In this way, each existing packing item is uniquely identified. For
example, if the boxes on a pallet are labeled, each box obtains a label when
handling units are generated for an order for milk cartons. SSCC Standard If this check box is selected, the handling unit code
meets the serial-shipping container code (SSCC) standard. Length The length of the handling unit. Length The unit in which the dimensions of the handling unit are expressed. Width The width of the handling unit. Height The height of the handling unit.

of all the handling units that meet the conditions set in the selection filter
fields in the upper part of this session. Clear Fields Use this command to empty the fields of the Selection Filter group box. Level Up Select this command to move one level upwards in the handling
unit structure of the selected handling unit. This is the level of the
