Assign Locations (whwmd3105m000)

Use this session to enter or adjust locations for a warehouse and assign these locations to the items stored in the warehouse. In the Change Location System by Warehouse (whwmd3205m000) session, stock point inventory and inventory structure data from the sessions is retrieved and copied to the current session.

Warehouse
The warehouse to whose items you enter or adjust locations.
Warehouse
The warehouse to whose items you enter or adjust locations.
Item
The item to which you assign a location.
Item
The item to which you assign a location.
Inventory Date
A date that is assigned to items when they are stored. You can use inventory dates to retrieve items based on FIFO (First In First Out) or LIFO (Last In First Out), without carrying out extensive lot control.

The meaning of the inventory date is connected to the outbound priority of LIFO, FIFO, or the product expiry date of the item.

With outbound priority LIFO or FIFO, the default for the inventory date is the system date; however, you can overwrite this so that the inventory date does not have to be equal to the storage date. If the item has a particular shelf life, the inventory date is the product expiry date defined for the item.

Package Definition
A particular configuration of items and their packaging. A package definition for an item can, for example, be the following: a pallet contains 12 boxes and each box contains 4 pieces.
Level
The package definition level of the item.
Unit
The unit of measure in which the inventory of an item is recorded, such as piece, kilogram, box of 12, or meter.

The inventory unit is also used as the base unit in measure conversions, especially for conversions that concern the order unit and the price unit on a purchase order or a sales order. These conversions always use the inventory unit as the base unit. An inventory unit therefore applies to all item types, also to item types that cannot be kept in stock.

Serial
A physical occurrence of a standard item that is given a unique lifetime serial number. This enables tracking of the individual item throughout its lifetime, for example, through the design, production, testing, installation, and maintenance phases. A serialized item can consist of other serialized components.

Examples of serialized items are cars (Vehicle Identification Number), airplanes (tail numbers), PCs, and other electronic equipment (serial numbers).

Handling Unit
A uniquely identifiable physical unit that consists of packaging and contents. A handling unit can contain items registered in Warehousing and other handling units. A handling unit has a structure of packaging materials used to pack items, or is a part of such a structure.

A handling unit includes the following attributes:

  • Identification code
  • Packaging item (optional)
  • Quantity of packaging items (optional)

If you link an item to a handling unit, the item is packed by means of the handling unit. The packaging item refers to the type of container or other packing material of which the handling unit consists. For example, by defining a packaging item such as Wooden Crate for a handling unit, you specify that the handling unit is a wooden crate.

Lot
A number of items produced and stored together that are identified by a (lot) code. Lots identify goods.
Proposed Location
The location created in the Warehouse - Locations (whwmd3500m000) session or the Fixed Locations (whwmd3502m000) session.

Before you copy the warehouse and the item data to the current session using the Change Location System by Warehouse (whwmd3205m000) session, for the current warehouse, you can define locations in the Warehouse - Locations (whwmd3500m000) session or the Fixed Locations (whwmd3502m000) session.

When you copy the warehouse and item data to the current session, LN assigns one default location to each type of item; the default location is displayed in this field.

New Location
The location in which the item is stored. The location inserted in this field overwrites the location present in the Proposed Location field when you actualize the location and inventory information.

If locations were defined for the current warehouse in advance, you can zoom to the Warehouse - Locations (whwmd3500m000) session to select a location. If not, you must manually enter a location. When you save or actualize the inventory information in the current session, the manually entered location is generated in the Warehouse - Locations (whwmd3500m000) session. The default location type is Bulk. Note that the location is not removed from the Warehouse - Locations (whwmd3500m000) session.

If you do not specify a location for a line, that is, no location is present in the Proposed Location field or this field, the item or the quantity of the item specified on the line is stored in the warehouse without reference to a location.

Inventory on Hand in Storage Unit
The inventory on hand expressed in the storage unit.
Inventory on Hand
The physical quantity of goods in one or more warehouses (including the inventory on hold).
Inventory on Hand
The unit used to express the inventory on hand.
Manually Inserted
If this check box is selected, the current line is created using the Split option from the appropriate menu.
Change Location Data Printed
If this check box is selected, a report listing the current warehouse, item, and location data is present.

Remove Location System Data
Use this command to delete the item and location data for the current warehouse. The data are deleted in the current session, this command does not affect the actual inventory data for the warehouse.
Split
Use this command to divide the inventory of the item over more than one location. If you select a line and select this command, the selected line is split. For the new line, you can enter a location and a quantity. You can split a line as many times as required. The total quantity of split lines for the item must match the inventory quantity for the item.

This command is not available if the item is serialized or if the item is contained in a handling unit.
