Configuration Management Parameters (tscfg0100m000)

This session contains:

  • A history list of parameter sets and their effective dates. The most recent parameter sets are at the end of the list.
  • The current parameter set, at the top of the list (without an effective date). To view historical sets, double-click one of the historical parameter sets. You can use the Print Service Parameters (tsmdm0400m000) session to print and compare the parameter sets.

To view or change the current parameters, double-click the set without an effective date that appears at the top of the list. The Configuration Management Parameters (tscfg0100m000) session starts.

If you make changes and save the new parameter setting, LN performs the following actions:

  • Adds the new set at the end of the history list.
  • Updates the current set (at the top of the list).
Note

By default, the Description field contains the date and time when the previous parameter setting was saved. To avoid confusion, if you change the parameters, change or delete the default Description text.

Effective Date
The date and time from which the parameters are valid. The parameters are valid up to the effective date of the most recent parameter setting.
Description
The description of the parameter set, for example, the reason why the previous setting was changed.
Display by Alternate Serial Numbers
Determines how sessions in the Configuration Control module will browse when zooming to serialized items.

If this check box is selected, the serialized items are sorted by the serial number that the business partner has assigned to the item. In this case, the Serialized Items - Alternate Identification (tscfg2502m000) session starts.

If this check box is cleared, the serialized items are sorted by item and serial number. In this case, the Serialized Items (tscfg2100m000) session starts.

Note

You can enter the business partner's serial number for a serialized item in the Serialized Items (tscfg2100m000) session. The functionality of this parameter is used extensively in Configuration Management.

Serialized Item Group Usage
If this check box is selected, you must specify a serialized-item group when you fill in a serialized item field in the Configuration Control module.

If this check box is not selected, you can optionally specify a serialized-item group when you fill in a serialized item field in the Configuration Control module.

Note

You can specify a default serialized-item group for a serialized item in the Serialized Items (tscfg2100m000) session.

Performance aspects

The setting of this field could affect system performance and database growth. For more information, refer to Unused concepts in Service

Empty Item Field Allowed
If this check box is selected, you can leave the Item field in the Serialized Items (tscfg2100m000) session empty.

If this check box is cleared, the item field must be specified.

Note

You can use this as an indicator of a so-called Structure component.

Number Group Maintenance Notifications
The default number group for maintenance notifications.
Description
The description or name of the code.
Series for Maintenance Notifications
The default series defined for the maintenance notifications number group.
Description
The description or name of the code.
Configuration Status Usage
If this check box is selected, the status field is displayed in the Serialized Items (tscfg2100m000) session. The default status is Startup. The Replace Serial Number command is displayed only when you select this check box.

If this check box is cleared, the status field is not displayed in the Serialized Items (tscfg2100m000) session. The statuses Startup and Revision are not used.

Create Physical Breakdown Log
If this check box is selected, changes to a serialized item's physical breakdown are automatically logged in the Physical Breakdown Log (tscfg2515m000) session, but only if the item's status in the Serialized Items (tscfg2100m000) session is Active.

If this check box is cleared, changes to a serialized item's physical breakdown are not logged.

Note

If the Configuration Status Usage check box is selected, this check box is automatically selected and will be inactive.

Step Size for Installations
The number that defines the sequence for the successive installations. For example, if you enter the value 10, the numbers assigned to successive installations are 10, 20, 30, and so on.
