Tools by Item (titrp0107m000)

Use this session to to list and maintain data of tools assigned to items.

The availability planning of tools in the Availability Planning (titrp0513m000) session is performed for tools that are linked to items that occur on planned production orders. The data maintained in this session is only used for tools linked to items on planned production orders from the Inventory Analysis module or from the Order Planning module.

The tool requirements planning of these orders is not based on the routings of the ordered items. The planning is based on the order lead-time, and the offset of the tools linked to the items. If the orders are released to the shop floor, a more detailed (routing-based) tool requirements planning is performed.

Note

Customized items and standard-to-order (STO) items are not allowed.

Item
The production item you want to link to a tool.

To link a tool, the production item must be:

You cannot link a tool to standard-to-order items.

Position
Sequence number that represents the position of the component.
Tool Type
The tool type must be defined as critical in availability planning in the Tool Types (titrp0101m000) session.
Tool Serial Number
A number to identify a tool. The combination of a tool type, for example, hammer, and a tool serial number, for example, 1, results in a unique identification of a tool in LN.
Note

In this field, you can only select tool serial numbers for which the Production check box in the Tools by Tool Type (titrp0102m000) check box is selected.

Tool Kit
A set of specific tools required to perform a single task. A tool kit can be linked to a machine, a task, and/or a routing operation to specify the tool(s) required to perform the task and/or operation.
Order Lead Time
The production time of an item expressed in hours or days, based on the lead time elements as defined in the routing operations.
Offset
The offset in workdays from the moment the tools are required until the planned end date of the production order.

The offset cannot be greater than the order lead-time defined in the Items - Production (tiipd0101m000) session for the item.

Lead Time
The interval specifies the duration in workdays for which the tool is required.
Note

The interval entered in this field cannot be greater than value entered in the Offset field.

Tool Usage Factor
The number of times the tool is required to produce a single piece of an item.

If the Tool Type field is linked, and the Tool's life is based on the number of times, the default value is 1.

If the Tool Kit field is linked, the number of usages required to produce a single piece of an item applies to all the tools of the Tool Kit field.
