Product Configurator (tipcf5120m000)

Use this session to configure a specific product variant by choosing from the available options for each product feature. After a product variant is configured, you can generate the product variant structure in the Generate (Project) Structure for Product Variant (tipcs2220m000) session on the basis of the generic product structure and the chosen product variant options.

You can activate the product configuraton in one of the following sessions:

  • Product Variants (tipcf5501m000).
  • Product Variants (tiapl3500m000).
  • Sales Quotation Lines (tdsls1501m000).
  • Sales Order Lines (tdsls4101m000).
  • Element Budget (Material Lines) (tpptc1510m000).
  • Activity Budget (Material Lines) (tpptc2110m000).
  • Planned PRP Warehouse Orders (tppss6815m000)
  • Estimate Lines (tpest2100m000).

You can configure product variants that contain purchased configurable items. You can use a configurable item to create a item structure that can hold a configurable purchased sub-assembly. The purchased sub-assembly is issued at the assembly line like other assembly parts.

Product features of option sets lower in the configuration structure are automatically inherited from higher levels. This means that the option values for product features in the upper levels of the configuration are automatically exported to the lower levels in the configuration structure. Horizontal dependencies between option values in the configuration structure are achieved with the help of global variables.

When an option set is initialized, the option value is initialized from the higher option sets by inheriting. This is performed for each product feature that belongs to the option set. Afterwards, the before-input option constraint section is performed. During this process, the option value is initialized with the default value that you defined in the Before Input constraint. The option set is then read.

Product Variant
A unique configuration of a configurable item. The variant results from the configuration process and includes information such as feature options, components, and operations.
Example

Configurable item: electric drill

Options:

  • 3 power sources (batteries, 12 V or 220 V)
  • 2 colors (blue, gray).

A total of 6 product variants can be produced with these options.

Option Set
Identifies a set with product features and options for a configurable item within the product structure.
Item
The code of the configurable item.
Sequence
A number that determines the sequence.

A number that determines the sequence in which:

  • records are displayed in an overview session or list box
  • components such as features are shown in the user menu (user dialog).
Product Feature
The code of the product feature.
Option
Options per product feature are aspects that specify the product feature. For instance 'red' can be an option of the feature 'color'.
Text
If this check box is selected, an additional text is displayed.

Initialize Variant
LN deletes the recorded product variant definition. You can then redefine the product variant, choosing from the available product variant options.
Initialize Option Set
LN deletes the relevant option set as well as all derived option sets on lower levels in the generic configuration structure. You can redefine the option set in question by choosing one of the available product variant options.
Product Variant Option Sets
LN starts the Product Variant Option Sets (tipcf5510m000) session.
Product Variant Structure
LN starts the Product Variant Structure (tipcf5511m000) session.
Product Variant Options
LN starts the Product Variant Options (tipcf5520m000) session.
Product Variant Sales Price Structure
LN starts the Product Variant Sales Price Structure (tipcf5530m000) session.
