Engineering BOM for assembly production

From Infor LN FP6, you can create an Engineering BOM for Engineering Modules.

To create an Engineering BOM for Engineering Modules:

  1. Start the Generate EBOM Copy Data (Multilevel) (tiedm1230m000) session. Generate copy data for an EBOM for an Engineering Item of type Engineering Module.
  2. Start the Finalize Engineering Data (tiedm3240m000) session. Finalize copying the data which you have generated in the previous step.

Note

Engineering items with Item Type = Manufactured and Default Supply Source = Assembly are to be used in EDM only. These items are considered as a phantom subassembly. These items are not copied to Assembly Control or Shop Floor Control, and should not be defined in the Items - General (tcibd0501m000) session. Therefore, if in the Engineering BOM the component is an engineering item of type Manufactured and default supply source is Assembly, the Type field of the BOM line is restricted to E-Item.

The Copy process copies the Engineering BOM to the Assembly BOM and flattens the BOM's structure. See Flattening.

The Engineering BOM for an Engineering Module or a Manufactured Assembly item contains these fields:

Flattening

The Copy process flattens the structure of the Engineering BOM. Flattening means all intermediate Engineering Modules and phantom subassemblies, are skipped. Multilevel BOM relations are reduced to a single level relation, with quantities multiplied and effective dates combined.

This figure shows an example of flattening:
[...]

The following multilevel BOM relations are reduced to a single level relation:

  • Module A -> Module B -> Part T

    Combined to Module A -> Part T

  • Module A -> Module C -> Phantom F -> Part V

    Combined to Module A -> Part V

  • Module A -> Module C -> Phantom F -> Part W

    Combined to Module A -> Part W
