Effective date of materials and operationsEffective dates and expiry dates The material lines in a BOM and the operations in a routing have a limited validity period during which they can be used in a production order. The validity period for each material and operation is indicated in the Effective Date field and the Expiry Date field in the following sessions:
You can use these validity periods to record historical data about the structure of a product. The latest possible expiry date is 19 January, 2038. If you do not enter an expiry date, LN automatically sets the expiry date to 01/19/38. Materials in a BOM You can enter more than one material line for one position number. Each material line has its own validity period, so that it can be used successively. The lines are distinguished by a sequence number, which follows the position number.
On March 3, 1993, 24 pcs of item B00012 were replaced by 24 pcs of item B01037. On June 6, 1993, the quantity was reduced to 20 pcs. Note Validity periods must not overlap. If they do, LN uses the first valid material or operation, and ignores the rest. Operations in a routing You can enter more than one version of an operation in a routing. Each version has its own validity period. The lines are distinguished by a sequence number, which follows the operation number. Effective date of a production order When a production order is created, the valid materials and operations for the current date are used unless a different effectivity date is specified in the Reference field in the Production Orders (tisfc0501m000) session. Example To plan a change in the materials of a manufactured item on a future date, for example, on the 3rd of March, do as follows:
