Asset Transfer (tffam1203m000)Use this session to record the movement an asset or part of an assetfrom one location or company to another. The current company is the company from which you transfer assets. You specify the destination company. These companies are the source company and destination company, respectively. LN transfers all of the asset's mapped books in an intercompany transfer. When transferring assets within the same company, LN transfers all assets' related books. You can transfer an asset after it has been capitalized and before it has been disposed. For each transfer, you indicate the date on which the transfer must take effect. If this date is in a prior period, LN must reverse any depreciation that occurred in the source company from that period until the current period. You can transfer the full quantity of the asset or a portion of it. You can transfer by quantity or percent regardless of how the asset is distributed. As a result of the transfer, LN adjusts the values of the asset for the source company and creates a new asset for the destination company. LN also creates journal entries for the source and destination companies based on the values in the asset's posting book in the General Ledger module. The source and destination assets are independent of one another once the transfer has been completed. When you specify an odd number of assets for partial transfer, LN rounds up to the next whole number. For example, if you specify a 50% transfer of 3 assets, LN will transfer 2. Assets subject to ADR can be transferred to a different vintage/group account. Note Asset transfer does not consider the tax implications of the transfer, any gain or loss encountered through the transfer, or the fair market value of transferred assets.
