Items - Freight Management (fmfmd1100m000)Use this session to view and maintain freight-related data for items. The items maintained in this session originate from the Common package. The freight related data for items are used for load planning and freight rating purposes. To each item, you can add specific freight-management data including:
Note
Item The item for which you define freight specific data. Combination Code The combination code is previously selected by users, or taken as default from one of the following sources:
The combination code of the item must be the same as the combination code of the selected transport means group or transport means combination, unless the selected transport means group or transport means combination has no combination code. Transport Type Transport type. The
combination code of the selected transport type must be the same as the
combination code of the current item. You can overwrite existing values, which are either defaults defined in the Items - Freight Defaults (fmfmd1101m000) session, or values previously selected by users. However, if a transport means combination or a transport means group is selected in the current session and a transport type exists for the transport means group or transport means combination, the transport type is taken from the transport means combination or transport means group. You must not change this value. Transport Means Combination If a transport means group is selected in the Transport Means Group field, you cannot select a transport means combination. If a carrier is inserted for the current item, the transport means combination must be attached to this carrier. In the Transport Means Combinations by Carrier (fmfmd0144m000) session, you can attach transport means combinations to carriers. Transport Means Group If a carrier is selected in the current session, zoom to the Transport Means Groups by Carrier (fmfmd0152m000) session. If no carrier is selected, zoom to the Transport Means Groups (fmfmd0150m000) session. The transport type of the selected transport means group must be the same as the transport type selected for the current item. For the transport means group that you select in this field, the Independent Use Allowed check box must be selected. You can overwrite existing values in the current field, which are either defaults defined in the Items - Freight Defaults (fmfmd1101m000) session, or values previously selected by users. Freight Class You can overwrite existing values, which are either defaults defined in the Items - Freight Defaults (fmfmd1101m000) session, or values previously selected by users. The freight class selected in this field is defaulted in freight orders, in which the current item is entered. Freight Price Group A group of items to which the same pricing characteristics
apply. Height The heigth of the item after preparation for transportation.
Some items require repackaging for transportation. Width The width of the item after preparation for transportation.
Some items require repackaging for transportation. Length The depth of the item after preparation for transportation.
Some items require repackaging for transportation. Volume The volume of the item after preparation for transportation.
Some items require repackaging for transportation. Weight The weight of the item after preparation for transportation.
Some items require repackaging for transportation. Length The default length unit for freight management master data.
Default master data units are set in the Freight Master Data Parameters (fmfmd0100m000) session. Floor Space This field displays the default surface area unit for Freight master
data. Default master-data units are set in the Freight Master Data Parameters (fmfmd0100m000) session. Volume This field displays the default volume unit for freight
management master data. Default master data units are set in the Freight Master Data Parameters (fmfmd0100m000) session. Weight This field displays the default weight unit for freight
management master data. Default master data units are set in the Freight Master Data Parameters (fmfmd0100m000) session. Piece Unit The piece unit for the item. Note that a conversion factor
must exist between the inventory unit of the item and the piece
unit. Pieces The portion of the piece unit that is taken up by one item. For example, if
the piece unit is a box that can contain 10 items, enter 0.1 Note that in such
cases, a rounding factor for the piece unit must exist that allows fractions.
The Units per Piece field shows the reverse proportion,
that is, 10 instead of 0.1. Units per Piece The proportion between the inventory unit of the item and the piece unit, which indicates how many items one piece unit
can contain. For example, if the inventory unit is INV and the piece unit is
LMT (loading metre), and the proportion between the inventory unit and the
piece unit is 100, this field will show the following value: 100 INV/LMT, which
means that the loading metre can contain 100 items. Additional Rate Unit A quantity by unit against which you can define freight rates.
You can choose from the units defined in Common. Many freight
rates are based on distance and weight. Additional quantities/units enable you
to define rates that are based on other units, such as volume, or define rates
that are based on combinations of distance, weight, and other units. Example 1 Freight rate by additional quantity/unit: Additional Rate Quantity: 1 pallet, Distance: 1000 km Amount by Distance: 10 Example 2 Freight rates by combinations of units by distance/zone: Weight: 10 kg Additional Rate Quantity: 1 m³ Break Type: Minimum
In this example, freight rates are based on distance by weight and volume. Shipment SH0001, from Amsterdam to Rotterdam, includes the following details: Distance: 70 km, Weight: 50 kg, Volume: 7 m³ The freight costs for shipment SH0001 are: 10 * 70 (distance) + 5 * 50 (weight) + 5 * 7 (volume) = 985 Stack Factor Price The price of the item. You can only enter prices for cost items. Cost items are
used to determine the additional costs for shipment lines. Inventory Unit The unit of measure in which the inventory of an item is
recorded, such as piece, kilogram, box of 12, or meter. The inventory unit is also used as the base unit in measure conversions, especially for conversions that concern the order unit and the price unit on a purchase order or a sales order. These conversions always use the inventory unit as the base unit. An inventory unit therefore applies to all item types, also to item types that cannot be kept in stock. Price The currency in which the additional costs are expressed. This
only applies to cost items. Search Key An alternative form of a description used for convenience
during searching. Typically, it is an abbreviation, an acronym, or a mnemonic
alternative to a full description. Freight Service Level The preferred freight service level for
the transportation of the current item. The selected freight service level is
also used for transport lead time calculations at the entry of originating
orders. Carrier The preferred carrier for the
transportation of the current item. The selected carrier is also used for
transport lead time calculations when entering originating orders.
