Resource (cprpd2100m000)

Use this session to list the resources, which you can maintain and display in the details session.

To load work centers from the execution level as resources in Enterprise Planning, click Load Work Center Data on the appropriate menu.

If you delete a work center, all planning data linked to that work center (rough capacity requirements and so on) are also deleted.

Note

Only resources specified in this session are considered in the planning methods of Enterprise Planning.

Note

If you started this session by zooming, you can only find and select a record.

Resource
A group of machines or employees in Enterprise Planning, corresponding to a work center in other LN packages.

Each operation performed to manufacture an item requires a certain capacity amount from a resource (for example, production hours). The capacity of the resource can be a constraint in the planning.

The availability of a resource can be specified by using the resource calendar.

You do not need to define a resource for each physical work center. Define only the resources that are important in planning or cost accounting.

Workload Norm
The amount of work that must await execution on the shop floor for a resource.

If the workload is much lower than the workload norm, there is a risk that the resource becomes idle. If the workload is much higher, the production lead times can become unacceptably long.

Note that the workload norm is expressed in hours.

Workload Tolerance
The percentage by which the resource's workload is allowed to deviate from the workload norm.
Basic Number of Operators
The required number of operators (people) for the resource.

If you selected the Critical in Master Planning check box in the Work Centers (tirou0101m000) session, and the Critical Capacity for Planning field in the Work Centers (tirou0101m000) session is Man Capacity, LN bases the capacity planning on the Basic Number of Operators field.

Default value

The default value is the value of the Number of Operators field in the Work Centers (tirou0101m000) session.

Basic Number of Machines
The number of machines required for the resource.

If you selected the Critical in Master Planning check box in the Work Centers (tirou0101m000) session, and the Critical Capacity for Planning field in the Work Centers (tirou0101m000) session is Machine Capacity, LN bases the capacity planning on the Basic Number of Machines field.

Default value

The default value is the value of the Number of Machines field in the Work Centers (tirou0101m000) session.

Calendar Code
The calendar of the resource.
Resource Planning Horizon
The time period for which LN performs resource planning.

You can see the results of this planning in the resource master plan.

Constraint
If this check box is selected, the resource is considered Constraint in the Resource Master Planning (RMP).

This field is only used in workload control.

Related topics

Critical in CTP
A plan item that is critical in CTP must be checked during a component CTP check for a higher level item in the bill of critical materials. A resource that is critical in CTP must be checked during a capacity CTP check for a plan item, if this resource is included in the plan item's bill of critical capacities.

If this check box is selected, LN takes into account the specified resource if it performs a capacity CTP check for an item that uses capacity of the resource.

Performance aspects

The setting of this field could affect system performance and database growth. For more information, refer to Maintain resource master plan.

Maintain Resource Master Plan
If this check box is selected, LN generates a resource master plan when you initialize the scenario.
Note

After selecting this check box, use the Initialize, Roll, and Update Scenario (cprpd4200m000) session to initialize the resource master plan.

Performance aspects

The setting of this field could affect system performance and database growth. For more information, refer to Maintain resource master plan.

Operations Storage Horizon
The number of future working days for which LN stores the operations for planned orders.

For planned orders beyond the operation storage horizon, you cannot analyze the capacity use of planned orders and you cannot transfer the planned orders to the execution level.

Set the operation storage horizon to the maximum possible value (9999 days), unless the number of stored operations causes performance problems. These problems can occur sometimes, if you plan orders by using Infor SCM Planner. If you do not use Infor SCM Planner, you can avoid these problems by setting a reasonable fixed lead-time horizon.

Note

The operation storage horizon must at least be as long as the longest time fence among the plan items that are produced at the involved resource.

Performance aspects

The setting of this field could affect system performance and database growth. For more information, refer to Operation storage horizon.

Days
The date on which LN sets the resource planning horizon or the operation storage horizon, calculated from the current date.

The calendar that LN uses to correctly set the resource planning horizon is, in order of priority, the calendar of:

  • The resource
  • The department
  • The enterprise unit
  • The company

In addition, LN uses the default availability type that you defined in the EP Parameters (cprpd0100m000) session.
