RRP run, Parallel Processing

In an order-based planning run in the Generate Order Planning (cprrp1210m000) session, you can optionally use parallel processing. In this case, LN uses multiple, parallel bshells to carry out the planning calculations.

The planning of items with the same phase number is distributed over the parallel bshells (in batches of 25 items).

Setup

The following setup is recommended:

  • Use a BW configuration file that is defined as the default, and make sure that it includes the appropriate password.
  • Include the path to the BW executable (bw.exe) in the PATH environment variable.
  • Define a BSE environment variable, and set it to the path of the folder in which BW has been installed.
  • Define a BSE_TMP environment variable, and set it to the path of the TMP subfolder under the folder in which BW has been installed.

Select the Parallel Processing check box in the Generate Order Planning (cprrp1210m000) session to use parallel processing. The first time that you do this, a new record is inserted in the Performance Boosters (tcmcs0597m000) session. In the in the Value field in the Performance Boosters (tcmcs0197s000) detail session, you can specify the number of servers (that is, the number of parallel processes). The default value is 5.
