Warranty Coverage Terms (tsctm1120m500)

Use this session to maintain the coverage term that is selected from the warranty.

Note
  • You can phase the coverage term over time.
  • You can make a coverage term dependent on the counter value of the item involved.

 

Warranty
A guarantee that a component is repaired free of charge or at reduced costs if it does not work according to the agreed specifications within a warranty period.
Coverage Type
A financial classification that indicates to what extent work is covered under warranty or contract, and what part of the activities can be charged.
Term Type
Categories used to group costs. Term types enable you to have a more detailed view of the source of costs.

The Contract Management module in Service distinguishes the following term types:

  • Material
  • Labor
  • Tooling
  • Traveling
  • Subcontracting
  • Help Desk
  • Other
  • Uptime
  • All
Coverage Term
For a service type / term type combination, this is a unique sequence number.

Default value of step size: 10

Note

The default value can be changed if required.

Cost Covering Method
A method that determines how the costs of the service order are covered by the service contract.

The following cost-covering methods are available:

  • Fixed Price
  • Ceiling
  • Coverage Percentage
  • Ceiling on Coverage Percentage
  • Exclusion
  • Own Risk

The agreed limit up to which the costs are covered by:
  • The contract
  • The quotation
  • The order
  • The warranty.

If you select the Ceiling cost covering method, this is the price limit.

In this case the phase term holds the price information.

If the coverage term has more than one phase, each phase can have a separate limit.

Coverage
The discount percentage.

In this case the phase term holds the discount information.

If the coverage term has more than one phase, each phase can have a separate discount.

Valid For
The period of time over which the contract runs. The contract duration is defined by a numeric value in combination with a period unit, for example 2 Month.

Enter a numeric value.

Effective Date
The date on which the terms become valid. It is displayed when the contract status changes from Free to Active.
Note
  • If more than one phase exists for this term, the start date of the first phase is displayed.
  • If a warranty is linked to one of the items or configurations in the contract, the date is on or after the date of installation.
Expiry Date
The last date on which the terms are valid. It is displayed when the contract status changes from Free to Active.
Note
  • If more than one phase exists for this term, the end date of the last phase is displayed.
  • If a warranty is linked to one of the items or configurations in the contract, the date is equal to the start date plus the warranty period.
Item
The counter item.
Item
The description of the counter item.
Counter Limit
The limiting counter value of the item.
Note

If the coverage term contains more than one phase, the largest limiting counter value of the phases is displayed.

Counter Limit
The unit in which the measuring quantity is expressed.
Ceiling Amount
A generally accepted medium of exchange such as coins, treasury notes, and banknotes.

The following currency types are available in LN:

  • Home currency, which is used internally by companies to calculate costs, record budgets, and register tax amounts
  • Transaction currency, which is used in transactions with business partners, such as orders and invoices

If this check box is selected, additional text regarding the warranty coverage terms is present.
Valid For
The period for which the coverage term is effective.
Note

When warranty coverage terms are defined for a generic warranty, this field is applicable only if the Use Period for Serialized Item check box is selected in the Generic Warranties (tsctm5100m000) session.

Period Unit
The unit of the time period for which the coverage term is effective.

Use this command to view the cost terms associated with the warranty.

Use this command to check the consistency.
