Customize Items in Budget (tpptc1255m000)

Use this session to customize a range of material budget lines. This is only relevant for standard items of type Manufactured that have a to-order policy or for generic items that are configured in Product Configuration or in the Configurator templates. The project status and the budget status must be Free or Active. The budget line is updated with the customized item. If the budget line quantity is zero, it is updated to one. You can create one or more new PCS projects, or use an existing one.

Note

If you copied a project or a budget, you must run this session to customize the items on the budget lines of the new project. The copied items are no longer customized, as the link with a PCS project is project-specific.

New PCS Project for each budget line
If this check box is selected, a new PCS project is created for each budget line item that needs to be customized. Note that this option results in a number of PCS projects, and this can generate in a great deal of administrative work.
One new PCS Project for all budget lines
If this check box is selected, a new PCS project is created for the first item to be customized. This same PCS project is used for all the other items to be customized.
Existing PCS Project for all budget lines
If this check box is selected, you must enter a PCS project in the PCS Project field. This PCS project is used for all budget lines that require customization.

The existing PCS project must meet the following conditions:

  • The PCS project status must be Free, Active, or Simulated.
  • The PCS project type cannot be Budget.
  • The Engineering Allowed check box in the Projects (tipcs2101m000) session must be selected.
  • The PCS project is not linked to another LN Project.
Without PCS Project (Only for Generic, Anonymous Items)
If this check box is selected, LN creates a new standard item, with no PCS project defined. The standard item is created from the generic item, based on the product variant defined in the budget lines.
Note

The generic item must have the Order Policy set to Anonymous.

Note

The new standard item has the Order Policy set to To Order.

Planning Method

Initial Status Project (PCS)
The initial status of the PCS project.

Allowed values

  • Free
LN allows you to carry out project engineering and to perform the following activities:
    • Define the project master schedule (PMS) by using the Project Control (PCS) module.
    • Maintain the project structure.
    • Maintain the customized product structure by using customized bills of material and routing sheets.
    • Carry out project estimating.
  • Simulated
LN allows you to simulate the rough capacity requirements planning and the detailed material and resource requirements planning (RRP) based on the network planning. The capacity requirements for a simulated project are visualized separately. LN generates planned RRP purchase orders, planned production orders, and PRP warehouse orders for customized items. However, those orders cannot be released. Moreover, the RRP does not allocate standard items to the project.
  • Active
Indicates the project's execution stage. You can release planned orders, so that the required purchase and production activities can be actually started and completed.
Initial Project (PCS) Completion Date
The date that must be considered to set the start and finish date of the PCS project.
Note

When the Planning Method for the PCS project is set to Backward the finish date of the PCS project is impacted and if the Planning Method is set to Forward the start date of the PCS project is impacted. However, the user can manually change the date.

The value in this field is based on the value you set in the Planning Method field. If the Planning Method field is set to:

  • Backward: The value in this field is based on the Element/Activity Finish Date.
  • Forward: The value in this field is based on the Element/Activity Start Date
Cost Price Calculation
If this check box is selected, the cost price is calculated for the customized item, but the cost price of the item on the budget line remains the same. You can also calculate the cost price with the Calculate Cost Prices by Project (tipcs3250m000) session.
