Export / Import PCS Activities via XML (tipcs4172m000)

Use this session to transfer projects, project activities and other project related data between LN Project Control and Microsoft Project or another project application.

Project
A collection of manufacturing and purchasing actions that are performed especially for a particular customer order. A project is initiated by a customer order for items having a To Order order policy. The purpose of a project is to plan and coordinate the production of these items.

For a standard-to-order production, the project is only used to link the item with the customer order. Otherwise, a project can include:

  • Customized item data (BOMs and routings)
  • Project planning (activity planning)

A budget is a special type of project. A budget is used to plan and estimate, not to carry out production.

Include Subprojects
If this check box is selected, the projects of project type Subproject that are part of the selected project are also included.
Export
XML-file
If you click Export, an XML file is created that contains project data. The path in this field specifies the name of the XML file and where it must be located on a local PC.

Start Application
If this check box is selected, you can specify a command in the Application field to start an external project application when exporting project data. The project application will open with the exported project data.
Application
If the Start Application check box is selected, you can specify a command in this field to start an external project application when exporting project data.

To start an external project application, you can enter the following start commands:

Note

The %s directive to load the XML file is case-sensitive. The start command is not case-sensitive.

Specify the path and file name of the XML file to import project data from an external project application into Project Control in LN.

Export
Click to create an XML file to transfer project data from Project Control in LN to an external project application such as Microsoft Project. If the Start Application check box is selected, the project application specified in the Application field starts with the exported project data.
Import
Click to import project data from the XML file specified in the Xml-file field. LN updates the project activities in Project Control with this imported data.
