Classifying Items

Procedure
  • If you want to classify an item that already exists in the Item Base Data module:

Enter the item in the Item field

  • If it is a customized item:

Enter the project in the Project field.

  • If you do not select an item code, LN generates a code after the classification process has been successfully completed.

Before classifying, you must define an item-code structure in the Item Code Structure (tigrt0195m000) session.

  • Select a family to let LN know by which features the item must be classified.
  • If you select a previously classified item, LN displays the family to which it belongs.
  • You cannot assign an item that is already classified to another family. If you want to do that, you must first delete the classified item data.
  • Click Continue on the appropriate menu to start the classification process.

LN saves the classified item after the classification process has been successfully completed.

If the item that you classify already exists (and is registered in Item Base Data module), the item retains its original code.

If the item has not been defined in the Item Base Data module, LN generates an item code. This code is based on the family code, the return values of the answers you give during classification, and (optional) a sequence number (see the Item Code Structure (tigrt0195m000) session). After classification, the Maintain Item Data (GRT) (tigrt1180s000) session is started to record the item data.
