Defining FamiliesClick Features by Family on the Specific menu to start the Features by Family (tigrt0102m000) session. In this session you can link features (defined in the Features (tigrt0101m000) session) to the family. When you insert a new family, LN shows the main family group (as defined in the Structure Levels (tigrt0199m000) session) with the underlying families. If you select an underlying family and click OK, LN generates a family code or produces another window with a family group that is one level down in the structure. Continue selecting until the family code is generated. You can then start the same procedure again at the highest level to generate another family code. Example
The Family Structure (tigrt0193m000) session first shows the main family group with the underlying families: If the first line (Raw Materials) does not consist of other families, a family code is generated after you have selected the number one (1). If the second line (Chairs) on the other hand does consist of multiple families or family groups, the Family Structure (tigrt0193m000) session displays the family group Chairs with the associated families (see below). Family group: CHA Chairs Family 1 Office Chairs 2 Armchairs By selecting a figure, you generate a family code or display another screen if there is at least one more underlying level. The Family Structure (tigrt0193m000) session first shows the main family group with the underlying families: Family group: MAIN Main family group Family 1 Raw Materials 2 Chairs 3 Parts If the first line (Raw Materials) does not consist of other families, a family code is generated after you have selected the number one (1). If the second line (Chairs) on the other hand does consist of multiple families or family groups, the Family Structure (tigrt0193m000) session displays the family group Chairs with the associated families (see below).
By selecting a figure, you generate a family code or display another screen if there is at least one more underlying level. In other words, a code is only generated if there are no more underlying levels. The family codes are built up from the code elements defined in the Families (tigrt0103m000) session. Example ![]()
Only the Armchairs, Raw Materials, Seat Elements, Back Elements, Astra Office Chairs and Camra Office Chairs families are generated. Chairs, Office Chairs, and Parts are both families and family groups and are not generated. This structure results in the following family codes:
