Exporting/Importing PCS Activities via XML

  • Click Export to transfer data from Project Control in Manufacturing to Microsoft Project or another project application.
  • Click Import to transfer data from Microsoft Project or another project application to Project Control in Manufacturing.

LN uses an XML file to transfer the data. If the Start Application check box is selected, the project application that is typed in the Application field is started.

After the XML file is imported in the external project application, you can plan or replan the project data. Note that the dates in Microsoft Project can deviate from the dates in LN. Especially if you ran the Generate Network Planning (tipcs4210m000) session in LN before the import, the dates will differ. The is reason is that Microsoft Project uses a planning logic that differs slightly from LN.

Note

Whether you can see the Export button and the Import button depends on the buttons' authorization groups. The authorization group for Export is Print / Display; the authorization group for Import is Update / Print Display.
