Enterprise Modeler

The Dynamic Enterprise Modeler can be used before the information system is operational. You use the DEM tool to create business models that are used to implement the ERP application packages. If an organization decides to implement a new information system by using ERP applications, the Dynamic Enterprise Modeler is used to identify and structure the company's information and goods flow using Business Control Diagrams and Business Processes. Use this to perform the actual implementation and optimization of the information system. You can for example build a kernel project model and from this create site-specific project models.

During the three different phases, the Dynamic Enterprise Modeler plays several roles. It functions as a decision support system in these cases:

  • When you develop a vision on how to functionally structure an organization.
  • When you develop a vision on how to organize the business processes of the organization.
  • When you develop a vision on how to integrate the information system with these business processes.

The DEM tool assists during the implementation of the ERP packages, based on the vision which was developed by means of the Dynamic Enterprise Modeler. After the information system has been implemented, the Enterprise Modeler can be used to monitor the critical success factors of an organization. These three roles are carried out in the following way. During the selection phase, the Dynamic Enterprise Modeler can function as a decision support system by visualizing the effects of decisions on the information system and its users. For example, decisions regarding business functions or business processes may affect the number of applications and other types of activities that must be implemented. In turn, this can affect the workload of the employees that must carry out the activities. During the implementation phase the Dynamic Enterprise Modeler can be used to assist in the actual implementation of the ERP and other applications in the following three ways:

  • Setting the ERP parameters and package settings.
  • Generating the ERP users based on the employees defined in DEM. These are the people who are going to utilize the ERP packages.
  • Creating the Dynamic Menu Browsers and authorizations for the employees.
