Function: Change Management

The objective of this function is to provide the change control mechanism for the LN entities (objects) defined in ODM. Change Management offers tools to control product change processes, and can be used with multiple ERP entities. The process of change management is an organization’ s most critical and complex process. Change Management provides the flexibility of creating a change process to optimize an organization’ s ERP system.

Process: Manage change process (code: MOD01a)

The objective of this process is to manage the changes by controlling the change processes of ERP entities. This process helps you define, approve, or reject the organization-wide change requirements by change control board, and also provides a logical structure of predefined change process steps that enable registration, prioritization, review, and execution of changes with complete history tracking.

Change Management tracks, manages, and implements a change by applying four principle components of the change process:

  • Registration: The authorizations and rules for changing an object, such as items, documents, parts, and so on.
  • Identification: An identifier assigned for every managed object.
  • Configuration: The method to define the product’ s configuration, and maintain the configuration throughout the product’ s life cycle.
  • Implementation: The method of reviewing the change by reviewers and chairperson of change control board and implementing the change process by completing the change.

Assumptions:

  • Implementation of flexible, consistent change management practices due to delivery time constraints, quality improvements and cost reductions all of which are driven by the need to maintain customer satisfaction.
  • Changes are part of the day-to-day work of many departments and roles in any organization, for example, Manufacturing and so on.
