Function: Inventory analysis

In this function, the inventory activity is analyzed to help product assortment screening and inventory deployment decisions. Based on the aggregated data related to inventory levels and usage, as well as statistical methods, such as ABC ranking, low demands, stock excess, you can identify inactive and obsolete items. This enables you to then take the appropriate action.

Maintaining the history of warehousing and inventory activities is also part of this function, because historical data is often used as a basis to perform analysis.

Process: Analyze inventory and warehousing history, advanced (code: MIM02a)

The advanced process for inventory analysis handles an extended set of analysis tools that can be used, such as ABC ranking, calculation of optimized order quantities, inventory valuation, recalculation of inventory planning parameters, and so on. In addition, the user can perform analysis on the use of consignment inventory, if applicable.

On the other hand, this process also handles the processing of all historic warehousing/inventory transactions performed in the warehouse management and inventory management processes. Some of this information is used for analysis; other data is simply stored for a period of time.

Process: Analyze inventory & warehousing history, basic (code: MIM02b)

The objective of this process is to analyze inventory and to remove and back up historic information from inventory transactions, based on a basic warehouse perspective.

Assumptions:

  • Analysis in a basic warehouse environment is reduced to a minimum, because the warehouse is not complex and, therefore, extended analysis is not required.
