Function: Shipping

In this function, you can create shipments and loads and initiate the actual shipment of goods. Depending on the complexity of the warehouse, this function is more or less extended. In very basic warehouse environments, no planning exists on the shipping of the goods. The individual shipments will be handed over to a carrier who takes care of the delivery. If the warehouse is more advanced, you might want to perform some load building already in-house. In this case, combine several shipments into one load and offer those to the carrier as one order.

Process: Ship goods, advanced (code: MWH07a)

In the advanced shipping process the shipping operations are well developed. Loads and shipments are prepared and the shipments can be confirmed and ASNs can be sent to the customers.

Assumptions:

  • This process is to be used in environments in which a lot of shipments occur on a daily basis. The process MWH06a Pack Goods is run in advance to pack the goods and rearrange the shipments.

Process: Ship goods, basic (code: MWH07b)

The basic shipping process only handles the essential steps to get the shipments out of the warehouse. No combination of shipments into loads is performed; the shipments are shipped on an individual basis. In addition, no shipping documents are printed here.

Assumptions:

  • In the basic environment, no need exists to combine shipments into bigger parts (loads).
