Function: Inspection

In this function, goods are physically inspected based on criteria, such as item characteristics and quality. The goods that are destroyed during inspection are removed from stock, and you can move the goods that are rejected to a rejection location. Inspection takes place in relationship to the movements of goods, such as receipt or issue.

Process: Inspect goods (code: MWH02a)

To prepare the goods for inspection, you must first run the Store Goods ( Function: Storage) process. By means of this process, the goods are advised for inspection and, if the warehouse is location-controlled, the goods are moved to the advised inspection location.

The inspection process ensures a more thorough check on the goods that have been received. Inspections can be mandatory by default, for example, due to the origin of the goods, or that the inspections are performed on a random basis. Inspected goods must be approved, rejected, or destroyed. To store the approved quantity in the destination location, you can run the Store Goods ( Function: Storage) process again. If the warehouse does not have locations, the goods are considered to be in stock upon approval.

You can move inventory that is rejected to a rejection location, from where the inventory can be handled.

Inventory that is destroyed is considered received, but will not be taken into stock.

When you work with handling units, inspections must be carried out and handled based on handling units.

The inspection must have been set up as a part of the warehouse order procedure for inbound to be able to run this process.
