Function: Order entry

The objective of this business function is to enter sales orders. You can also release these sales orders to Warehouse Management and Invoicing, including back-order management and the assignment of commissions and rebates. Sales orders can be normal orders or over-the-counter sales. The objective of this business function is to enter a sales order and release the order either to planning in a configured product, or specified product driven environment, or to warehousing in a standard product driven environment, which includes the following:

  • Management of back orders.
  • Assignment of commissions and rebates.
  • Check whether requested goods are in stock (inventory check).
  • Check available-to-promise.

The objective of this business function is to enter sales orders. These sales orders can also be released to Warehouse Management and Invoicing, including backorder management and the assignment of commissions and rebates. Sales orders can be normal orders, over-the-counter sales.

In a Standard typology, sales orders can be entered based on several types of input:

  • EDI messages
  • Manually entered sales order
  • Enter sales order based on quotation.
  • Enter sales order from quick list (future release), which is a new functionality, especially applicable for commodity goods for which fast-order-entry functionality is required.

Assumptions:

  • Retro-billing is only applicable for the Standard and Predefined typologies. With sales orders, possibly based on quotations, and sales contracts, you can change negotiated prices if price changes occur later.

Process: Enter service order (quotation-based) (MSL05e)

The objective of this process is to create a service order for field intervention. This process is the result of an accepted quotation by the customer. Based on the quotation, the service order is generated, complete with the required details.
