Function: Assortment monitoring

The objective of this main business function is to screen and match the assortment expectations based on such aspects as profitability, turnover, and costs. This analysis is performed by studying information gathered in the database over a period of time, such as sales statistics, turnover rates, and so on, and information that is received from other departments in the company, for example, market trends. Based on the analyses, decisions are made towards the structure of the assortment for the coming periods. This function is to initiate actions towards other functions concerning changes in the assortment, to make sure everyone in the organization is up-to-date.

Process: Monitor assortment (code: MPA02a)

The objective of this process is to screen the product assortment with the goal of modifying and/or deleting items that are not profitable for the company to retain in the assortment available to customers.

This process describes the steps required to review inventory and sales information and consult with other appropriate areas in the organization to determine which products and services must remain in the company's product selection.

As a result of periodic screenings, you can make a decision about whether or not a product is further maintained and must be removed from the assortment. This process must initiate this removal and communicate to the proper other departments in the organization which actions must be taken.
