Function: System engineering (concept definition)

A new product or a major product innovation is developed based on market research and the company strategy. In concept definition, the expected requirements of the target customers are investigated and translated into technical product specifications. You can also look at this process as the total engineering performed paper to be able to provide a quotation to a customer based on the manual calculation of materials for a new product (concept).

This process deals with a number of manual activities, some of which are linked to third-party applications. In this case, a link is anticipated with PLM. However, PLM has not been modeled for the present version of LN. Therefore, the future link is now presented as a manual activity.
