Assembly ControlThe topic describes the differences between Infor LN 10 and Infor LN 10.2.1 for the Assembly Control. Assembly kit old situation An assembly kit is a grouping or categorization of parts to be supplied to a specific line station. The assembly kit is order dependant set of components determined by the product configuration that is delivered to the shop floor warehouse of the relevant line station. The assembly kits are line station driven when supplying parts in sequence. When demanded by the process the parts are supplied in sequence at the line station based on assembly kit assignment. The parts are assigned to an assembly kit automatically when a kit is defined on the warehouse-item relationship. Assembly kit new situation To differentiate between the old and new assembly kit functionality a Kit Type field has been added to all relevant session. Old functionality is accessible by selecting Line Station. All current assembly kits will be assigned Line Station automatically. To use the new kit type Product for assembly parts a new flag Product Assembly Kit Part in Warehousing must be selected. Product type assembly kits can only be supplied from a warehouse, never from a supplier. Product type kits require parts of the kit to be added via the assembly kit itself instead of getting automatically assigned, this happens independently from the warehouse-item relationship. Because this kit type only supports Order Controlled/SILS supply from a warehouse the supplying of a shop floor warehouse on the line can only take place via a warehouse transfer. It is now possible to assign an assembly kit to an assembly end item or assembly line combination. A Product type assembly kit can only be assigned to one end item or assembly line as the assignment is considered unique in the assembly model. The new functionality now supports kits which hold parts for several line stations on a single line. When such a kit is send from the main warehouse to the line it will dispense the relevant parts at each subsequent line station. This functionality does require all of the line stations to be linked to the same shop floor warehouse. Note
