Manufacturer part numbers

The following are applicable to manufacturer part numbers (MPNs):

• An MPN can be linked to only one manufacturer and only one item.
• An MPN can be linked to a manufacturer and item in the Manufacturer Part Numbers (tdipu0145m000) session.
• On a purchase order line, you can only select an MPN that is available in the MPNs by Item - Business Partner (tdipu0148m000) session.
• You cannot add MPNs to an MPN set if the MPN is not present in the MPNs by Item - Business Partner (tdipu0148m000) session.

The following changes were made:

• You can link multiple manufacturers to the same MPN in the Manufacturer Part Numbers (tdipu0145m000) session.

  Therefore, the Manufacturer field was added to the following sessions:

  • Items - Purchase (tdipu0101m000)
  • Item - Purchase (tdipu0601m000)
  • MPNs by Item - Business Partner (tdipu0148m000)

• The Multiple Items per MPN check box was added to the Purchase Parameters (tdpur0100m000) session.

  • If this check box is selected, you can use the new Items by MPN (tdipu0149m000) session to link multiple items to a combination of MPN and manufacturer. This new session also is a satellite session in the Item - Purchase (tdipu0601m000) session.
  • If this check box is cleared, you can use the Manufacturer Part Numbers (tdipu0145m000) session to link one item to a combination of MPN and manufacturer.

• On a purchase order line, you can now select an MPN that is not yet available in the MPNs by Item - Business Partner (tdipu0148m000) session. You can specify whether you want to add this MPN to the MPNs by Item - Business Partner (tdipu0148m000) session, and also indicate whether you want to make it the preferred MPN in the MPNs by Item - Business Partner (tdipu0148m000) session.

• In the Purchase Order Line MPN Sets (tdpur4601m100) session, you can add MPNs to the MPN set regardless of whether the MPN exists in the MPNs by Item - Business Partner (tdipu0148m000) session. You can specify whether you also want to add this MPN to the MPNs by Item - Business Partner (tdipu0148m000) session.

  In the Purchase Order Line MPN Sets (tdpur4601m100) session from the appropriate menu of the MPN Set tab, you can click Set MPN as Preferred MPN. You are notified if the MPN is not the preferred MPN in the MPNs by Item - Business Partner (tdipu0148m000) session and are asked if you also want to make it the preferred MPN in the MPNs by Item - Business Partner (tdipu0148m000) session. If the preferred MPN is changed in the MPN set, the preferred MPN on the purchase order line (detail) is also changed.
