The Inbox Query and Inbox Update activity nodes

You can use activity nodes to query and update Inbox in processes. The Inbox Query and Inbox Update nodes are grouped with ION activity nodes in Infor Process Designer.

The Inbox Query node performs an iterative query against the Inbox and retrieves records meeting the specified criteria, which is a status flag on an Inbox. Optionally, you can configure the node to update the status of retrieved records.

The Inbox Update node sets the status on specific Inbox records. This node is usually used in conjunction with the Inbox node when a selected records need to be saved for updating at a different point in the process.

This is a simple example that shows how you can use the Inbox and Inbox Update nodes in a process that identifies Inbox records with errors and changes their status so the records can be reprocessed. The process includes:

  • Inbox Query node configured to retrieve records with error status.

  • Inbox Update node configured to populate these records as unprocessed.

Note:

Much of the functionality available from these nodes is also available from the ION channel/receiver feature. Depending on your application, a channel/receiver configuration can be more useful. Information about how the ION channel/receiver works and how to configure it is in the Infor Process Automation Administration Guide available in the Infor Landmark Technology help.
