Work unit monitoring dashboard
- Green: The work unit is healthy.
- Yellow: A warning message is logged.
- Red: An error message is logged.
- Blue: An issue is logged but ignored based on the notification configuration.
This table shows the work unit metrics that are reported for monitoring and alerting:
| Metric | Description |
|---|---|
| Throughput | Shows how fast the work units are processed by the system. This metric is calculated based on the number of completed work units over the number of dispatched work units from the past 60 minutes. Work units that run longer than 60 minutes affect this metric. |
| Utilization rate |
Shows how effectively the system uses its capacity. This metric is calculated based on the number of completed and active work units over the completed and maximum allocated work unit counts from the past 60 minutes. When you access the utilization rate metric, the page shows completed, active, and maximum work unit counts from the past 60 minutes. The page includes a breakdown of IPA queues that shows queued and active counts to help identify idle or underutilized queues. |
| Backlog rate |
Shows how much congestion is present in the system and how long the work units are backing up. This metric is calculated based on the number of queued work units over the sum of dispatched and active work units from the past 60 minutes. When you access the backlog rate metric, the page shows currently queued, dispatched, and active work unit counts from the past 60 minutes to help identify idle queues or areas of congestion. |
| Failure rate |
Shows how often work units fail. This metric is calculated based on the number of failed work units over the sum of failed and completed work units from the past 60 minutes. When you access the failure rate metric, the page shows failed and completed work unit counts from the past 60 minutes. |
| Error rate | Shows how frequently error messages occur during work unit processing. This metric is calculated based on the number of error messages over the number of completed work units from the past 60 minutes.
When you access the error rate metric, the page shows the work units completed with error from the past 60 minutes. |
| Long running work units | Shows which work units are running longer than expected to complete. A work unit is classified as long running if its elapsed time is at least 60 minutes and exceeds the average elapsed time for similar work units.
A yellow-coded alert is displayed if its elapsed time exceeds 25% of the average elapsed time of similar work units, and a red-coded alert is displayed if it exceeds 50%. |
| Long running activities | Shows which activities within a work unit are running longer than expected to complete. The elapsed time of the top five activities for each work unit is compared against dynamically computed averages by WMAS. An activity is classified as long running if its elapsed time is at least 60 minutes and exceeds the average elapsed time for the same activity in similar work units.
A yellow-coded alert is displayed if its elapsed time exceeds 25% of the average elapsed time for same activity in similar work units, and a red-coded alert is displayed if it exceeds 50%. |
